It was a little over 6.5". All of the crab with rubber bands have been keeper size+.Is the crab of legal size? Looks small in the pick. or maybe a holding pen got pillaged.
Escapees...good thought, eroyd. The weird part is that a friend caught a few last summer, then we've caught a few more this spring. I doubt they would survive long being unable to defend/feed themselves. Is the crab of legal size? Looks small in the pick. or maybe a holding pen got pillaged.
The boat luanch in mill bay sucksI usually fish areas 28 & 29... and an annual trip to 23, but I'll be in the Shawnigan Lake area for a week in late June... looks like hatchery chinook is open in areas 18-7, 19-7 & 19-8... that's pretty cool! Also, hatchery cohos, ling, hali (rare?)... I'll see if I can get out for a day on the salt; is there any issue using the Mill Bay boat launch? Where would one park the vehicle/trailer for the day? Cheers and thanks in advance.
Releasing store bought marine life is a whole religious thing.I caught one in the same area (Tsehum Harbour) about a month ago? Maybe Greenpeace is buying crab at the local Thrifty's and setting them free
There's usually a spot up the road. If your boats of any size, weight or beauty, I wouldn't launch at Mill Bay. Cowichan is probably better.I usually fish areas 28 & 29... and an annual trip to 23, but I'll be in the Shawnigan Lake area for a week in late June... looks like hatchery chinook is open in areas 18-7, 19-7 & 19-8... that's pretty cool! Thanks! My boat is only 18', 60HP... light-duty, and pretty only in my eyes... Aluminum centre-console... welded but not super seaworthy... a fair-weather boat. Should be OK, but I'll look into Cowichan just in case. There's usually a spot up the road. If your boats of any size, weight or beauty, I wouldn't launch at Mill Bay. Cowichan is probably better.
I called the them about 4 weeks ago. Still closedAnyone know if Tsartlip is open yet?
Still closed - although I saw a pic of the new ramp and it’s looking really great.Anyone know if Tsartlip is open yet?
You are smashing them! is this in 18-7 or the open area? We tried north of WAIN and Satellite and had no bites. My rod holder on the rigger gave up at the plastic gear / teeth and the whole rod went down. I was very lucky to get it back and that the release clip held!Another beauty day yesterday 7 for 8 on chinook. Only 1 wild rest were hatchery up to 15 lbs. All caught on Spoons.
