I saw the kayakers and suggest you put a flag of some kind up as your black blends into the shore line so well you are invisibleAwesome!
My friend and I were at the Nook this week (Wed-Fri) with our kayaks and managed to come home with our possession limits of ling and rockfish. The weather was absolutely spectacular! Didn't see many salmony bait balls and marks, and we came up empty when we jigged at the ones we found, but that was our first time out that way, so we're behind the learning curve. All in all, it was pretty great!

Yeah, that's a good point. I usually wear a red jacket, but didn't on this occasion. A flag would be better. I'll see what I can do before the next trip.I saw the kayakers and suggest you put a flag of some kind up as your black blends into the shore line so well you are invisible
totally helps in the swell to avoid hitting the "plastic speed bumps"Yeah, that's a good point. I usually wear a red jacket, but didn't on this occasion. A flag would be better. I'll see what I can do before the next trip.
The Area 23 Harvest Round Table met to review the latest forecast models to land on adopting a preliminary run forecast to base our initial -re-season fishing plan. The plan will be adjusted after we have in-season test fishing data to confirm how accurate our pre-season forecast is and adjust the fishing plan up or down based on actual data. There have been some sockeye entering the river already and through the counters which is normally expected.Anyone heard the sockeye forecast for this year, normally I hear something on the port alberni radio station by now?
Way too early. Only a few jumpers seen. Water is still very cold, and water in the river so they aren't about to stage in the canal anytime soon. We usually don't starting seeing catchable numbers until after father's day give or take a few days each season which is very influenced by water conditions.Anyone seeing any Sox up there yet?
How long do the sockeye typically sick around the Inlet. Last August long weekend we saw a bunch.Way too early. Only a few jumpers seen.
