Hey team, make sure to fill this out.
"Survey on potential 2022 management measures to address key threats to Southern Resident killer whales"
Hey team, this is a very poor, and possibly harmful survey.

Firstly, some questions are confusing and misleading. There should be separate questions for: "does this benefit you..?" and "does this negatively impact you...?"
Secondly, it's open form ANYONE to fill out. There's no requirement for a: name, address, angler number, email etc. to legitimize the respondent.
Thirdly, because of the above, the groups/individuals thinking their helping whales could fill it out 10's or even a 100 times indicating they want the maximum restrictions against recreational fishers.

Be cautious about participating. If you do anything, please ask for a better, more concise survey to replace this one.

I am not filling it out. Sick and tired of playing the BS games from DFO. This survey is basically a death sentence asking us to choose between the electric chair, poison or a firing squad. None of which are good options. What a bunch of clowns.

I think like others have stated.. it's more of a check box they are fulfilling than any real meaning behind it. Our responses mean nothing and will likely be given zero consideration.

Anyone out today ? Or going out tomorrow family day?
I went out today. We didn't look at the weather report I guess. We went out to point Atkinson, it was rougher then usual but manageable. We realized we only had a third tank. We were supposed to start the day with a fill up. So we went up the Indian arm instead. I dropped two traps. Four hour soak while we trolled around Indian arm. We got 100 nice prawns. Pretty happy with those results up there. Hard to find the right depth because its steep everywhere. But north side as far up as the electrical station.

At Tunstall Bay right now. No action for us but saw a keeper netted at

Got to Point Cowan around 12:30. Dropped 2 sets traps and was going to Tunstall but wind picked up real quick. Whitecaps. Decided to troll around Cowan while the traps soak. A family of orcas came by. Not a sniff as far as Salmon is concerned. Went home with around 50 prawns.

Went out yesterday, late start waiting for winds to calm down. Fished Grace, Hutt, Tunstall 1-4. Not a whiff. Lots of bait at Grace, some at Tunstall. Water seemed brown and murky especially at Grace. Our timing was off with the tides, but maybe the murky water affected things too.

that murky water is the algae bloom startin happens every year around this time

Tunstall today 12:00-3:30. Two bites. Landed one under. Bouncing bottoms in 155 feet of water when they hit. Lots of bait. Man it was cold out there today but this made up for it.

Yeup. That's what it's all about this time of year! I bet those were some of the best wings you've ever had in your life.

Weather was nice, brats on the bbq were nice, playing hooky from work was nice… fishing however was pretty slow. Fished tunstall and grace today and had no action for first 3 hours before finding a pocket of fish at tunstall in 150’. Sadly, the 6-7 fish we hooked were all a few cm’s short of legal. Ended the day getting sealed but likely another under based on the first few seconds of the fight before the seal grabbed on. All in all great day for Feb. skinny G and Chovy both worked… eventually.
