2021 Vancouver-Howe Sound-Sechelt Reports Thread

That must have been one hell of a ride, we just dropped in at the cabin near robets creek and its just ripping on the Straits...boat is all dialed in for later this week, better weather coming...
It was really rough. Especially where the howesound meets the straight, the waves got fairly vertical. We had some laughs, cause I was trying to have the wife tag along. It was a day like today that killed fishing/boating for her last March.

Went out yesterday, lines in the water at 830 at defence. Found the bait finally just before the tide change, pulled through it for a couple hours on either end of the tide change and nothing!! Move to the waterfall trolled around for an hour, barely any bait so pushed on to tunstall bay to finish the day. Finished the day around 1:45 without a touch!! Sporty ride back home to say the least!!

Anyone heading out this am, it is flat calm on the Straits right now anyway. Be a perfect shot out to the Hump and it must be a good forecast all day as there are 2 large booms racing out front at .5 knots haha. Time to explore the open waters, guys!!!

Glad to hear I'm not alone in the prawn struggle. Headed out to grab my traps in an hour or two, scattered around the sound.

Where's the hump everyone keeps chatting about??

The Hump was pretty slow until around 1:30, only marked 1 big bait loop in the north west corner and that’s where we saw some action. 4 shakers on the shallow rod at 125’ on the rigger. The deeper rod had no action until 3:30 when a pin popper peeled the line for almost a minute then decided to dart towards the boat. A few head shakes and it was gone. 170” on the DR, anchovy AP spoon and green onion flasher got the big hit. Prawning was mediocre. Surprised by the small size prawns this time of year. Last year we had jumbo size prawns on every outing in March.

Make sure you check your lines every 10-15’. We dragged 3 f*&ng pollocks for quiet a while. They’re everywhere and in all depths this year.
