Hey just curious. Does anyone know what the commie opening was last weekend or what that huge butt blue boat was anchored off cree and folger? At 7 mile i saw a bunch of boats both trollers and looked like drag or seiners fishing the humps where all the sporties were and we had to dodge them. Heard chatter of pollack or hake fishery but cant see trolling them up and thought the spring opening was closed. Must have been huge bycatch in the nets considering the number of ho's in the area.

Well, I just got off the phone with cohochinook and it looks like there will be quite a few forum members in the area for the weekend including the houseful at Mills.

Anyone who wants to put some faces to names should come by the place on Saturday around 4. We'll boil up some crab, maybey grill up a freshie and trade some lies about the days catch!

Dock at the Fisheries dock in west Bamfield and come on up the jetty, we're right there.

Monitoring channel 1a for the weekend if you wanna give a shout.

Inshore has been goofy - right place right time kinda stuff but they are definitely trickling. Green/glo spoons/white hoochie/chovies. Offshore still deadly, seas a bit big but great fish. Plugs and big spoons. The coho seem to be dissapating a bit and a bit smaller in size the last couple of days.

Gimee the gaff!!!

Sounds good Osama! Looking forward to it. I'll be fishing inshore unless the winds cooperate. I'll monitor 1a as well.

The fishing inside was good for us yesterday, hooking a dozen or so good fish. Even better today is what I hear. I was off shore doing the halibut and salmon thing today and got our hali's as well as eight large springs to 34 pounds.
Congrat's to Dan Bishop of Bish n Sons charters and his guests on a 50 plus today. Awesome fish.

We fished the afternoon tide yesterday at Pill Point. Just before reaching Chup Point the red tide starts - it looks like you are driving through mud.

Got the first rod out and just as I was putting the second out the first pops off and starts screaming line out - 14 lb Coho. :)

Great start but misleading for the rest of the day. The next two were undersized springs we released. Then nothing for a while.

So much bait in places the lines would jiggle and bounce - had a few false alarms.

It turned on for a bit and we got three more, two springs and another coho.

A little slower than we hoped - but still very happy with the day.

The water visibility is less than a foot. We couldn't see any of the fish we netted until they were on top of the water. Two feet under you can't see a thing.

All of the fish had empty stomachs.

Business Time, great report!
We're back from holidays.
Heading for an evening try tonight.
Smiley.

Friday and Saturday Morning.
Wall, Kirby, Eagle Bay to Brady Beach.
Limit of springs, the biggest 24 this weekend.
Not many coho around, a lot of undersized.
First light fishing was undersized after undersized on bait, going through almost a pack each morning before the bite cooled off, but fish of any size were far between.
Mid morning bite brought more size.
Evenings produced the biggest fish.

The large bait balls have disappeared from these areas -- moved elsewhere and took a the coho with them I guess. Released several waiting for the 'big one' to fill the limit, and hit the first double header of the year. Lost one and released an undersized. While the 'lost' rod was trailing on top not far behind the boat a spring came up and nailed it on the surface. Wasn't big, but had completely swallowed the 9" Herring (and treble) so it got bonked to fill the limit and we were done. Its stomach gave up a 4 inch bullhead! From bottom feeding to topwater feeding!
---most of the keeper springs were on Anchovy, just switched over to the large herring looking for the BIG fish.

A quick report from Aug 22 &23 trip to Mills Landing w/Peahead & Coyote Spooner and the venerable 'Osama' guiding.

Action over all had slowed but it was a great trip nonetheless with great accomodation in a smoothly run operation.

It was a treat to fish with such easy going experienced guys here's are a few pics from my album which can be found here.

Hey Dogbreath, I'm happy to hear that you guys had a great time up at Mills Landing with everyone, thanks for the compliments.

Thanks Dogbreath for the photos,

And thanks to Milsy, Jeff/Osama, Jody, Sheldon and Wendy... nice to meet all of you. The house was GREAT! Thanks Jeff for your efforts and working hard for us. Got some nice catches and you are a pleasure to fish with. Great crab too Jeff ...and the garlic bread was a fabulous addition so thx to Wendy and Sheldon !! .... and also thanks to Dan and "The Law" crew for their contribution off-shore.
It was a very enjoyable trip. Despite slower Chinook fishing ( as compared to earlier in August and July) there was a few Springs around and some good Coho action with a few Halis as a bonus ! Thanks for the use of the spoons, T. Peck noodle rod and spinning gear, Dogbreath....the HOLO Shad is great ! Oh and how much you want for the TP noodle rod ? ;)
There was fish to be had offshore as well as some decent reports at some inshore locations. We were offshore both Sat and Sunday with decent activity. I have only got very small Halibut Chickens before so was so happy to get one close to 40 lbs. Here are some of my photos for all to enjoy. Sorry I haven't sorted out albums as of yet on Photobucket so can't link to a particular album . Hope you all don't mind the photos directly attached here.

Nice fishing with you Dogbreath and Coyote Spooner!

Great to meet you guys. That was some tasty crab. Thank you Osama!:D

We got offshore on Sunday morning and got into some action. My older son boated a 23 pound Spring and younger one got a 18 pound Coho. They had smiles ear to ear.
