Great place,Brad and Seaton are slowly improving it year by year, not fancy by any means but a great place.Don't raft your boat on the inside gets shallow at low tide.PS bring a shoulder patch and stick it on the kitchen wall.Dan

I'll give my fishing report for the last two weeks, we fished from the 23rd until the 2nd. We fished mostly Assits and Pill, with Pill being the more productive by far. The first week was pretty good, we landed a fish from 17 to 45 pounds (I'll post a picture if someone will help me). Most of the fish came on green hot spots with various Coyote spoons. The 45 pound fish hit a 7' Tomic 600ps The first week we caught most of our fish at 50' or deeper.

The second week saw fishing slow markedly. Our largest chinook was 23 pounds and coho dominated the catch. bait began to work a little better and most of our fish were caught at 50' or less.

I'd like to thank IronNoggin for his excellent tips on coloring spoons with marking pens. My wife was busy with the pens and came up with a couple of real winners (again I'll post pictures with some help.) Also would like to thank the guys at Pacific Net and Twine in Coombs, they hooked me up with the 7" Tomic.

Now looking forward to the last trip of the year in late October. Does anyone know if there are any coho around that late?

Well,we fished the weekend out there.Friday we started at swail rock No love there. Moved out to meeres or mears(not sure on the spelling) and got into a couple small ones and a bunch of black cod.Around 9 we pulled the pin and hit 7 mile. Water was great.Good size roll but no chop.We bumped the mud on a troll for a while and got one halli one small spring and one pink.I had both my friends hanging over the side of the boat chumming both sides.Had to shut it down wen the young fella started begging me to either "go in or kill him" Ha Ha Ha! So Bamfield general store for some gravel and then pulled the traps.(About 100 prawns)Saturday and Sunday we managed a couple shakers and that was it.Fished Swail,Diplock, and vernon. Slowest derby weekend I have ever had. Oh well a good time was had and we came home with some white meat as a bonus. Has been a good Summer!!!!!!

No place I would rather be (FISH ON)

Sorry for the 'hijack' but I think you'll find this important:

DC Reid, a major sportsfisherman on this coast, wrote this article about fish farms hurting the sockeye run.
http://www.timescolonist.com/Fraser...+chance+because+fish+farms/1971312/story.html

"Department of Fisheries and Oceans minister, Gail Shea, was in Norway at the major aquaculture get-together wooing them to come to Canada."

He urges us to write Shea.G@parl.gc.ca to tell her we want to keep fishfarms out of BC. If she gets enough stinkin emails about this, it'll help.

Thanks.

Hey Millsy don't you know you have to phone us reny guides before you come down this way for a day pass.lol just ask Ian mc he'll fill you in and your rite those nitnat boys can be pushy they have to understand it's not there ocean.

hey Millsy and Bananas, ever think maybe those Nitinat boys aren't so much "pushy" as just pushing back? and look no further than your average guide to see someone who "doesn't understand it's not their ocean" so maybe put that marble in your head and let it roll around for a while.cheers...

I know 90% of those cutplugers so i was kind of kidding around but for newcomers to the bar they could be a tad pushy,i personaly love fishing there it's my fav spot.Nothing like good old fashion combat fishing.

Don't catch all the remaining fish FD. We're getting there on the 15th for 4 days. Are reservations still needed coming home on Friday the 18th or is the summer travel eased off?
We'll be dragging the boat with us both ways, not over height just 44 ft long...

The fishing really turned on monday afternoon at the wall. After only catching 4 Fish for sat and sunday. The Bigger fish seemed to move in around two monday afternoon with 3 springs between 17 and 25 lbs landed in short order. Other people had fish on as well. The fish were deep between 80 and 120 feet. Four rods helped test all depths. Will be up possible on the 18th. Bait and small green and chrome were the ticket all weekend

HaHa. Pushing back all right Backlash.

If you come fish this neck of the woods and fish with the tack no guides will push you anywhere. Start cross tacking and acting like an SOB...

Anyhow, good on them for defending the last bastion of cutplugging on the west coast. If it was my gig I'd be right in there. The one muscle bound dude threating old Bill wasn't to cool, but Bill would have blown his phukin head off long before he boarded the vessle so that in itself was hilarious!

Trevor, I fished down there quite a few times this year, heard you on the radio but never got a visual. Didn't know about the call ahead:)
the ucy guides and us just curse one anothers presence and smile...;)

Anyhow, fishing inshore pretty much sucks. You are in the right time at the right place to get them, which is happening, just not regularly.

I'll be back at swiftsure tomorrow if the weather goes like its supposed to.

Gonna be a snippy winter on the ol' board...

Gimee the gaff!!!

[:0]:D:D:D and MORE! :D I still "cut plug" !

Guess what?... it still works!! :D:D:D

Maybe, I should have "cut pluged" yesterday? As I blanked? :D:D

Hey Osama the muscle bound guy is actualy a great guy just a little protective of one of the last cutplug spots, but he can sure go off,he may be the guy who put his boat rite through a tyee lodge motor a number of years ago.
As for you guys fishing swiftsure you are closer to it than us but its a joke we have with Ian, its all good look forward to bumping into you out there.

He'll meet his match one day!! LOL A cold hard stare from one of the war brides would probably set him right...[8D]:D
