Headed out on Friday night to Salmon beach. Got up to the lot at 10 pm put stuff away in the trailer then thought we would get some tackle ready but had a small problem...................where were the boat keys? . Sh*t like this happens to me once in a blue moon . I left the keys at home in Nanaimo. Phoned the wife (best woman on the face of this earth) and she met us in Port on Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. So after a short 3 hour drive we were out fishing .
Just first mate Jake and myself on Saturday. Headed out to the SW corner again and the coho have thinned considerably compared to the last couple of weekends which was nice. We got into some nice springs finally. Just the good old red flasher and army truck spoons in 4'' and 5'' worked like a charm.
Jake with a nice Spring
My first tyee of the year caught at 91 feet (I am not a trophy fisherman by any means but a fish like this will put a smile on anyones face)!
Some typical screen shots we were seeing near the reefs and rocks closer to shore fishing for lings.
Sunday morning my hunting buddy's father and wife met up with us and came out to a beautiful day on the water. Maybe 1/2 - 1 meter swell with a light NW breeze. Was like fishing in California (almost). We fished closer to shore this time just on the bank. One side was using large herring in purple haze teaser heads with a green glow flasher. Other side green glow flasher with army truck spoon again. Most of these fish were caught at 45'.
The set up
A nice 22 lber
Jakes almost into the tyee club with this 27 lber (his biggest to date).
The biggest of the weekend 32 lber caught by my hunting buddy's dad's wife
(sorry for the face blot but I didn't have permission to post her face online).
Compared to the last two weekends previous I would say it is still great but you just have to watch rod's a little longer
