I would</u> call it good</u> fishing...I wouldn't</u> call it hot</u>. We put in a bunch of hours and worked our asses off for the fish we caught. At the cleaning table in Poett on Friday night, most of those with fish had one or two. Many people got none. The fish caught were quality fish though.
I guess everyone has a different definition of hot...sorry if I sounded spoiled ;). We had a day in late May with limits for 3 people in less than 2-1/2 hours...that's hot[8D].

Its not that hot. Fished 14-16th and it was so so. We fished pill, kirby, whittlstone ect. Only hit 2 big springs and lost them both. Pill was slow but we lost a screamer in a guys rigger yesterday morn. Second big spring hit at 40ft offshore at 7 mile around 4pm which was suprising as we were going for coho on that line. Had to chase him as he took a mile of line out but buddy whos new to fishing couldnt catch up when he swam at the boat.

7 mile has a ton of coho. If you find the schools and mark them you can catch them all day. We had fish take hootchies on the surface. Solid coho aswell 8-13 avg and a few bigger. No coho inside that we saw.

Hit springs to 15+ lbs at all spots. Offshore a pilchard tomic did the best 150-220ft but we also hit a few springs on splatterback at 40ft. Didnt keep much but had a fun trip. The coho made up for the lack of big springs. Its a hoot getting a triple header of 10+ lb coho. Decent numbers of springs coming in from the outside but we dont have the boat to go past 7 mile. Nice weather the whole trip as our 17.5ft could run to 7 mile every day no problem and even saw a crazy 15fter out there. Picked up this aft though

Headed out on Friday night to Salmon beach. Got up to the lot at 10 pm put stuff away in the trailer then thought we would get some tackle ready but had a small problem...................where were the boat keys? . Sh*t like this happens to me once in a blue moon . I left the keys at home in Nanaimo. Phoned the wife (best woman on the face of this earth) and she met us in Port on Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. So after a short 3 hour drive we were out fishing .

Just first mate Jake and myself on Saturday. Headed out to the SW corner again and the coho have thinned considerably compared to the last couple of weekends which was nice. We got into some nice springs finally. Just the good old red flasher and army truck spoons in 4'' and 5'' worked like a charm.

My first tyee of the year caught at 91 feet (I am not a trophy fisherman by any means but a fish like this will put a smile on anyones face)!

Some typical screen shots we were seeing near the reefs and rocks closer to shore fishing for lings.

Sunday morning my hunting buddy's father and wife met up with us and came out to a beautiful day on the water. Maybe 1/2 - 1 meter swell with a light NW breeze. Was like fishing in California (almost). We fished closer to shore this time just on the bank. One side was using large herring in purple haze teaser heads with a green glow flasher. Other side green glow flasher with army truck spoon again. Most of these fish were caught at 45'.

Have to say boys that the fishing that Osama and I had out there this weekend offshore of Bamfield was some of the best I have ever seen. 24 large over 20 pounds, a full possession limit of big fish between 21-38 pounds for a lucky group of wicked guys from Calgary. Couldn't have been a better trip. Unfricking believeable.

Report and pics at www.millslanding.com

Can someone tell me an easy way to post pics...maybe off of facebook or something, then I could put some up here?

You guys should all quit your jobs, cancel any of your plans and go fishing offshore right now.

Hey UNKNOWN - nice plug!!!

I scooped it for a whirl today and hit a couple upper twenties in short order. Fished beside my favorite producer and matched fish for fish...

Gonna have to have Millsy drag a couple more back across next time.

Fishing is HOT offshore. No splitting friggin hairs about it. Inshore, not yet, but trickling and spurts. Halis have started to come back on offshore now and the dogs are dissapearing thank kryste.

Felix - look me up this time, never seem to make the connection. Email me - jeffhnish@hotmail.com

My address on this site isn't accurate so I apologize to anyone that thinks they have sent me something, I just dont get it.

Met WildWest over at the bar on Saturday night - hope you guys were enjoying it as much as we were! How's the rest of your fishing go?

Boys I very much appreciate the reports from Bamfield. I am heading over with three buddies on Wednesday (Aug.18th) - Monday(Aug. 24th) staying at woods end. Fishing a 30ft Tiara name is Reel Deal. If you see us stop in for a cold one or say hello. I will post a report when I get back. Look forward to bumping into a few of you guys over there!

Cheers

Finally got out to Bamfield in the 10' inflatable. What a hoot! All my buddies jammed out, expressing serious skepticism about fishing the west coast in a balloon, which is not unreasonable I guess. So my fishing partner ended up being my mum. The 10' boat is a giant step down from her 30 footer, but it sure made for fun fishing. With a 4 horse and too much common sense, we were very limited in range, but we did just fine trolling along the wall. Two over 20# and a 10# coho on Sunday, and a nice coho right off the hop on Monday to cap off the trip. Not exactly a bonanza, but more than enough excitement in the tiny boat. Especially after my mum went over hard on her ankle getting out of the boat on an isolated beach (to visit the bushes). She could hardly walk after her stumble, but she kept on driving the boat, leaving me to fight and net the fish by myself. This was an incredibly fun trip, and now the only barrier left to break before upgrading is catching one over 30#.

I don't know if any one from the sight saw us out there, but we are pretty much unmistakable. I did see a boat called Fog Ducker, but it didn't look anything like the picture. Perhaps an older version?

right on, sounds like a hoot out there in the inflatable.

going to the nook from the 23-27th, anyone going to be around? we will definitely have the cold ones flowing so come on by for a B.S.

I am heading over on Thursday night for 3 days. Staying in Bamfield at the Municipal Campground. I hope to bump into few of crew from here.

Nice pics Kelly! Looks like you guys were havin' some fun; just the way I like to fish! Keep em laughing with some good photo ops.

heading up from friday till monday will give a report when i return. staying at seabeam.

Well, I just got off the phone with cohochinook and it looks like there will be quite a few forum members in the area for the weekend including the houseful at Mills.

Anyone who wants to put some faces to names should come by the place on Saturday around 4. We'll boil up some crab, maybey grill up a freshie and trade some lies about the days catch!

Dock at the Fisheries dock in west Bamfield and come on up the jetty, we're right there.

Monitoring channel 1a for the weekend if you wanna give a shout.

Inshore has been goofy - right place right time kinda stuff but they are definitely trickling. Green/glo spoons/white hoochie/chovies. Offshore still deadly, seas a bit big but great fish. Plugs and big spoons. The coho seem to be dissapating a bit and a bit smaller in size the last couple of days.

Gimee the gaff!!!
