They were still around big time in July and August. Maybe not in the harbour but the fish were stuffed with them at times.When do they show up? I’d like to try to catch some for calamari
Had this tonight...great recipe definitely a keeper. I marinated it for a couple of hours and finished with the reserved sauce as recommended.Drink's fishing Partner OJ did this up for us on a Goldie trip some years back as appee .. Thought i would revist it for dinner the other night.. Just a good as the first time i tried it
OJ’s Sesame Crusted Salmon Sate's.
18 6'" bamboo skewers
1 12oz salmon fillet
1/4 cup oyster sauce
2 Tbsp orange juice concentrate
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1 clove garlic minced
1Tbsp grated fresh ginger
3 Tbsp chili paste ( OJ used Sambal Oelek at Nootka)
1/4 cup honey
1 Tbsp sesame oil
2-3 Tbsp Toasted sesame seeds
Presoak bamboo skewers for at least 30 minutes. Slice salmon into strips. Weave the strips onto the skewers.
In a bowl, combine all ingredients and brush half the marinade onto the salmon skewers. Let stand for at least 10 minutes.
Grill for 1 to 2 minutes on each side. Brush remaining marinade on the cooked salmon and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

I swear she only seems to pick seafood that I can’t catch, like scallops, lobster, salmon, cod and halibut.

I love those humbolts done many ways, I do prefer them sauteed or in stir fries in the wok and also the tubes are awesome as sashimi sliced thin and long and coated in tobiko , I do like the calamari like Derby did (which look awesome) . I also love those chilli garlic squid they do in some chinese restaurants.They are good sauted in garlic butter too!

Doing some pulled pork.
Dug out the old ‘Dem Bones’ recipe for the sauce.
Usually use this sauce on ribs but it’s good on pulled pork too.
Anyone remember that restaurant from many years ago?
