haha I love your prioritiesI had about 12 rods in the back of the truck last night awaiting the order. It hasn't come yet. This morning our friends in the planned place of refuge in Lake Country had to evacuate their home.
They went to our plan B house in Armstrong, So in went the tent, air mattress and sleeping bags and out went the rods in case we need to sleep in the yard. Lifetime collection of spoons is still in for if we have to go. I got a trip coming up. Hope the boat makes it.
Wind is calming, but too dark for helicopters now.
People are losing everything. Keep your rightwing ******** out of it.Not wanting to derail this thread but when you have a bunch of socialists and lunatics running your provincial and federal governments, they don't typically think that far.
On a more positive note, the wind is supposed to ease off before midnight and temps are supposed to cool off a bit by tomorrow morning. Thoughts with everyone. Stay safe.
Been hearing that shuswap/scotch creek /celista are all on fire and only evacuation by water now. Scary stuff. Glad you made it out OK.Shuswap is another tragedy unfolded now. We just got out of there today. Buddy lost his house . I am having drinks with a couple now that will probably a
lose theirs by morning
The whole situation is horrendous but what are you talking about? The gov needs to rethink how to fight fires
Oil patch pumps and large hose connected to rain guns/field irrigation on the leading edge of subdivisions and towns
Retool retrain and sprinkler system low risk front line to save homes and stop the airplane bucket brigade it’s not working
Every subdivision has a water system and field guns could be set up in advance and no the fire isn’t too quick it burned for two days already lots of time for set up especially if properly trained for the system
Man those hoses and pumps in the oil patch move a ton of water and most places already have underground water mains
Adapt and overcome
I know the guys on the ground are doing all they can
But we need leaders with the ability to come up with a new battle plan
I’ve had several people pack up and leave the complex were I live and we’re in VernonMore structures were lost last night, but not sure how many. A lot of my neighbors have left but I’m not going until I’m issued a notice to leave. Wind is nil at the moment and the smoke is heavy so it’s hard to see much of anything.
I am aware of three friends' homes that were saved by firefighters and helicopters while others nearby burned. One other with a beautiful Westside lakefront home was not so fortunate.Well we got some good news from our neighbor who’s an rcmp she let us know the firefighters saved our sub division it burned the houses up on the hill side above us but they water bombed our whole area as a massive guard and it worked! So things might just be looking up for us in this rough time, we’re currently held up with family in town.
Yeah it’s hard to get exact info at this time as the smoke is still socked in so badly and hard to make exact estimates of lost homesI am aware of three friends' homes that were saved by firefighters and helicopters while others nearby burned. At this point, due to the low visibility from smoke, a person needs a first responder friend to really find out what burned and what didn't.
