Okanagan Lake Resort is gone burnt to the ground
That's crazy. If fire's getting to Glenmore then the UBC campus is just next door. fak!Landfill is on fire now in kelowna as well.. fml its getting worse then 2003 imho. Lightning strike supposedly but they let it sit because of NO resources 1 heli and 4 guys.
bridge is open..I have it on drive bc webcam,,,wind has changed from the SW to now NW judging by the wavesdont know if its true yet but heard that they are shutting down the bridge now between west kelowna and kelowna trying to keep people away from all of it right now.
Jesus, there was an opportunity to train and put hundreds of people into the field in June, I sent messages to one of the training companies and tried to get 40k Ukrainians to connect with training but due to gov red tape I doubt anything happened.Landfill is on fire now in kelowna as well.. fml its getting worse then 2003 imho. it's a nasty one, we have friends who live on the top of Dillworth with an incredible lake view and the pics they are sending and posting on fb are absolutely horrifying. We’re on alert but westside road is burning all the way down to the rd
Not wanting to derail this thread but when you have a bunch of socialists and lunatics running your provincial and federal governments, they don't typically think that far.The gov needs to rethink how to fight fires
Oil patch pumps and large hose connected to rain guns/field irrigation on the leading edge of subdivisions and towns
Retool retrain and sprinkler system low risk front line to save homes and stop the airplane bucket brigade it’s not working
Every subdivision has a water system and field guns could be set up in advance and no the fire isn’t too quick it burned for two days already lots of time for set up especially if properly trained for the system
Man those hoses and pumps in the oil patch move a ton of water and most places already have underground water mains
Adapt and overcome
I know the guys on the ground are doing all they can
But we need leaders with the ability to come up with a new battle plan
