The OFFISHAL Vancouver 2011 Reports Thread

Fished yesterday afternoon. Went just inside the Bell. Got the first two lines down and nailed a socK which my 7 year old son reeled in and then hit another half an hour later. Wife did not like the motion of the ocean and felt green, so had to bring her to shore. Tried the Cap for a bit, but nothing. Talked to a buddy who hit an 18 pound and mid-twenties off North Arm.

Was out for a long day yesterday. Started at 6:30am at the cap. Bait was stolen at the marker and one other bite after that. Saw 1 guy bringing in a average spring and talked to another who picked up a Coho. Not much going on after that so picked up and joined the chaos at the 2nd mile marker to bell buoy. Took awhile but eventually found the massive schools of sox. Picked up 2 but thats about it. Hard to keep on the school with so many other boats around. Both fish were hit at about the 50 range. Saw a few others being taken but pretty slow in general. It was sure choppy most of the time, had some serious sea legs when we got back! Those sox are still there....the first one didn't put up any fight at all, we must have been towing him along for a ride for about 10 mins while we finished a beer before doing a line check and noticed we actually had a fish on. Hopefully the wind dies down this week, today is blowing pretty good out there again.

I may just run over there from my home base in Naniamo and visit some of the charter boys at Granville Island--- IF the shop here gives me a break.I really have a hankering for one of those Cold Smoked Salmon Pizzas at Bridges Pub...THEY are The GREATEST if you never tried one!! Will do an overniter and put the gear down if I have the chance to.I think I'll drop yhe hook at the cap marker and sink some medium herring on the flood.......no BRAINER

LoL... love to witness that hook drop, especially what might happen if you do that on Sept 21 st ....hehe..... that is if you meant drop the anchor ?

Got out this afternoon for a few hours on a buddys huge aluminum boat. he was taking out a fellow friend and business associate who hadnt fished the salt before. Asked me to come and help run lines. after yesterdays skunk didnt have too much hope but 10 mins in we had a fish on and boated a 18lb white on sock gear at 60 ft.put up almost zero fight which seemed odd. didnt get a sniff after that. the current was ripping out there today and had to fish a bell towards the pink apartments tack in order to keep lines straight. we did mark alot of fish hugging bottom in a few spots tho but didnt see any jumpers until we were heading back into the north arm and saw a few. associate got sea sick and yacked so we headed in before evening flood

Hi All,

I have looked back at my log and seen that there has been good fishing around the south arm at this time but was just wondering if anyone has been trying out there lately, maybe I should take a quick trip and see eh ! But then again a couple of more socks would be nice (Area 28).

I haven't been out there recently, but I bet the Pinks are thick!

sir-vivor, the south arm offered up a nice red and white last week. I've been out of town but have been itching to get out there, hopefully tomorrow.

Hey demco, did you catch those on pink/sox gear or were you running bait?

I'm going to try to hit south arm today since high tide will let me run out the middle arm after work.

Cheers

One was on the pink sockeye squirt and one was on a coyote, double header both hit at exactly the same time, around 45 feet

Was talking to 1 of the barrys at the tackle shop and he was saying sandheads has been coughing up some good springs. a guy in there was saying he hooked 7 springs on the weekend. the lockout at work is over so after a 2 month hiatus i'm back 2moro and i guess i will now be a weekend warrior again

Going to Bridges tomorrow after the charters are done as a matter of fact. Heya Bruce... all the old Granville Island Charter Boys are gone. Bonnie Lee is still there, Kevin Addie...Guy is still there. Gerry has moved on. Eugene is out of the scene. The only fellas you will know are the guys from Sewell's...Dave K., Scott S., Ken W., Wayne M. has called it quits etc. Gord from GIC is still on the Island here and there but doesn't do it anymore. The local scene has some newcomers since you left.

Hey FM what happend to Eugene? last time I guided along side him at Bonnie Lee he was going strong, smoking 2 packs of canadian classics a day, one in each breast pocket. He's a beauty. What about Eddie? Or Paul? Gary and Terry?
