lol, I think you have just been had, hook line and sinker....fortunately for you they are using circle hooks, so the release will be easy.
lol. A shot of black velvet first and you'll hardly feel it.

Must of hit a nerve here comes damage control.Better just cut this one off before someone decides it is to big to be sporting.
This thread shouldn't even have to exist. But we were sold out. As for c and r, pinch barb on circle hook but then you'll lose a lot more fish...keep tac down though *eyeroll*[/QU
This thread has nothing to do with your beef... the other threads are for you..
Seriously this thread is starting to go off course. Regardless of the current or upcoming regualtions people should know how to properly deal with large halibut. There are safe and not so safe ways to deal with 100# of fish sitting beside the boat. There are ways you can rig your gear so you can have control over the fish at the side of the boat no matter what you want to do with it. Anywho my offer is still there for anyone who wants to learn a little bit about how to control big game. So Lets please try to keep this thread on track and post up some constructive items. We all know the current proposed regs suck the the TAC allocation sucks.
you know whats going "off course" mike, is that the guys on this forum continue to give DFO ideas about how to manage our halibut....the idea of annual limits and size restrictions came from SFBC....a few years ago someone brought up the slot size for salmon, and guess what......slot size......and then someone thought it was a good idea for a halibut slot size, another idea that came to pass! Where did this 16/60 idea come from? It came from here! So if u want to get "back on track"....tell guys on this forum to keep their bright ideas to themselves! Dont take it personal im not pickin on u, but can u imagine some new guy that catches a big prick, and then brings it aboard to measure it cause hes not quite sure if its legal? Dont go to war with me, but the history here proves, ask......and we shall receive!
regardzzzz
Well it shouldn't be ust about whats good for me. How about whats right for the tax paying sportfisherman as a group. But then again like you say if you can get rid of us you have it all to yourself.Well said profisher. I just can't deal with ohhh poor me its costs so much to go fishing. Whats with you guys there is soon much more to being on the water than how many pounds of fish u can bring home. That will be super cool if no one will want to go out for 1 under 60, lots more room for me.....
Two things I find peculiar;
- All the guys whining about how it costs money to be a sport fisherman. If you can't afford it then don't do it. The govt is in favour of salmon farms an exploiting our resource via commercial mechanisms so I'm certain you can find seafood via alternative avenues.
- the people that say "go to a meeting", why? So I can say the same thing you are and not be heard... I think we should all acknowledge that the framework we are currently working within is flawed and requires an overhaul. Strategic lobbying as opposed to "meeting" is more valuable at this stage in the game.
Thread officially derailed...[/QUOTE
If you go to the meeting then you can under stand what thoses who are involved are up against.... agee we need a lobbing perhaps it would be great if all groups came together and shelled out for the choosen one.... Got to ask how you do you think that for one minute you could change current system and the current halibut problem we face with only Victoria lobbing?I would think this is much bigger than just Victoria and perhaps should be looked at bring all groups together just not one... just my personal 2 bits
