Decision will be for 2027 season. Not 2026. If that helps anyone plan to sell their boat after the 2026 season as my understanding is 2027 will not be good for the public sector on this front. 2026 will be business as usual.

There is right based fishing with priority being planned for 2026. The are already changing their language.

TBH unless there can be a political title wave it felt like DFO was already talking and preparing like it’s a done deal. You could tell they were already looking at ways to pass more fish to “rights based fisheries”

Its interesting how much clout Musqueam has vs the other nations, but it has been years in the making. A FN chief I met with years ago said that they had been learning the system, going to universities, and figuring out how to win. That was 20 years ago. You can see how much further along the Sparrows are by looking at upriver nation's comments like "now let a few get by for us".

The desire to maximize the success of one's *own* bloodline isn't limited by creed or color...
