iPhone apps for fishing etc

So I finally got an iPhone and I've been busy adding apps, etc. Was curious what apps some of you seasoned iPhone users have on your phones that are good for fishing, etc.

Here are a couple that I have added that I highly recommend:

1) Navionics: Get the whole of North America on your iphone for $14.99. Great backup to your GPS and also has all tide/current info among many other features. This is a must in my opinion
2) Tapatalk: I logged onto the sportfishing BC forum through my browser and got prompted to add this app when I tried to view the forum. It's $2.99 and it really makes the user interface simple for the forums on your iphone. Another strong buy IMO
3) ShralpTide: Really simple and quick and free tide app. Uses your GPS location and gives you nearby tide stations.

K, those are my 3 I have added in the last couple days since joining the iPhone posse. Let's hear what others have to recommend

I use the navionics app for tides.

The app I use daily is windfinder. There is a free one, but it's worth the $2 for the more detailed forecasts on the pro version.

yeah I use windfinder as well good app for planning if you want to go out or not. Speaking of knots I also use Grog Knots helpful for learning new knots since I switched to braid

on my android "tides and currents" the best app for finding not only the tide forecasts but the current flows, far more useful. there are thousands of reporting stations that this app knows about.

warning about this app

tincan where did you download shralp tides at.......don

be careful and dont depend on this Shralp app , it was 3 hours out for vancouver . 2 1/2 hrs out for Point grey , and that was also adding for daylight time.
not sure how a app can be soooooo out of sync with the real tidebook.
but i do like navtronics for charts , they need a upgrade to be able to put event marks on chart though.

I want to use these apps. Can you please suggest me download link?

One of the handiest things that i have found on my iphone and ipad is creating your own 'apps' while on any website. When on any webpage, hit the button at bottom middle and choose 'add to home screen'. This will add an app/link for you that will take you right to that site/page when you hit it. I find this super helpful for so many things. Some handy links that I have added: lots of wind/cam/ ones from Bigwavedave(about 6), different webcams, DFO regs, etc.

Most used apps for fishing...
Navigation - Navionics
Currents - Navionics
Tides - Navionics or TidePlan
Wind - bigwavedave links
Buoys - BuoyData - NOAA App, links to sufline.com buoys(they tap into the spectral data...more useful when I am hunting waves rather than fish!)

I also picked up a great waterproof case for my iphone. Lifeproof. They now have them for Ipads also, but only the newest generations....which mine is not.

Does anybody know if Navionics will work in places like Nootka and Renfrew where there is no cell phone coverage. Does it still link with the GPS system and provide the ability to navigate based on GPS co-ordinates even though there is no cell connectivity ?? I'm using an Iphone5....

My IPad doesn't have a built-in GPS so I use this instead; http://www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalog/avpages/ipadgpself.php?clickkey=8388
Works great with Navionics everywhere I've been and seems pretty accurate.

I have navionics on my iPhone and it does work in areas with no cell reception such as renfrew and Haida gwaii. I suggest the life proof case as well.

My iPhone works as a GPS on the water when I have no cell service and they say my cellular iPad will do the same.

Might end up replacing my Lowrance as my phone fails less often. :)

Ok, sounds like the GPS functionality works even when there is no cell connection. 10-4 on the miltary grade case as well. Thanks...
