Gardening pics, hacks, successes, and or failures

I'm not sure. My wife bought them, but that sounds about right. Did that happen with others?
I’m sure its happened with other seed companies, but west coast seeds is unfortunately notorious for mixing up seeds. I stopped buying them a few years ago, for that and for poor results.

Yep just checked with the wife and it was West Coast Seeds.

Any suggestions for alternative seed suppliers?

Really, any other brand you’re gonna see in a garden centre. I've been ordering from incredible seeds for 2 years with good success.

I do try and save seed whenever I can, especially on the easier ones and if we find something we really like. I’ve been carting around black cherry tomatoes for 8 years now. This is first year I’ve harvested carrot seed

Forecast changed to possible frost before we get home from a trip so we picked more than we wanted to. There are still some in the garden along with some peppers, cukes, melons and eggplants and other stuff.
We don't plant garlic until the carrots that were between the rows of this season's garlic come out around Halloween.View attachment 111375

Wow! That is extremely early!
Hope the weather doesn't get into any long term freezing!

Reminds me - I still have to put the leaf litter on top of mine (which are up about the same as your Russian variety).

Cheers

I had a single layer of a potato sack over them with leaves on top and the garlic was growing through it all so I removed it to get the photo. Like you Nog, I will be just be putting down a thick layer of leaves tomorrow because I still think a winter freeze or two is coming.

it has been 10c and windy at our place in Vic the last few day.

Mine are all over 6 inches tall. I’m worried about any sort of freeze now as well. Mine had a blanket of mulched leaves on them already and grew right through it .

I planted mine a couple weeks later then usually so mine have not come up I just hope mine don’t rot from all the rain

Cold Frame is always a good idea.

Tried leeks for the first time this year, a lesson in patience (not my strong suit) had given up on them. Started inside in March transplanted delicate stems into the old garlic bed in June. Extremely happy with the results holding well in their bed. Along with some of our potato's for soup.:)IMG_20241123_141430734.jpgIMG_20241123_152810697.jpgIMG_20241123_192123329~2.jpg
