Fishing Tofino Nearshore?

Hello, first timer here! We are heading up to Tofino this weekend and am planning on bringing our small boat to fish nearshore. Its just a 14' so will not be venturing out too far. Are there any winter spring opportunities if we were to launch at Grice bay? At the very least is the crabbing any good out that way? Thanks in advance.

Alright - yes I am fully aware of my boat's limitations. Not up for that kind of thing! Nothing near the harbour hey?

Maybe around the Moser point area of Templer channel but even there is exposed to open water and big tidal flows.

I guided there for 37 years and will tell you that in winter the ocean has way more power than the summer. Stay safe!

If you have time, drive down to Ucluelet and fish Newcombe Channel at the mouth of the inlet. There are fish in there and it’s quite protected. Still want to watch the weather and currents though.
