Capilano River Mouth Chinook Fishery

Nicely done!! Roughly what area did you land it in? I've found ive been only able to land them in the exact same spot everytime which is by the marker on the side you're not allowed to fish ;)

It hit just west of that marker, maybe 300 meters and about 100 meters south. I was in 110ft of water. I had just turned to head out into the chanel to avoid another boat and bam! fish on:D

Nice!! I try to keep doing circles around that area depending on boat traffic. Seems to be where they all are! Nothing ever on the finder, its only used for depth checks :)

Fireman's Derby yesterday with about 40 boats. About 15 Springs taken and the biggest was 19.5 pounds. A report of a Coho in the high teens was released.

It was a good day NOT be fishing the Cap !!!

Thinking of one more trip to the Cap tomorrow morning. Anyone out today ?

Brisco, I was out today for a short time around 11am. Had a bite around the pink palace but nothing landed. Water started getting hairy around 2:30pm so I called it in for the day. Heard of a couple fish this morning on the lines but lost. They are there just need to work a bit more for them ;) Can't wait to get out again

I will be out today... Floods at 5.. Report back tonight.

Nicely done! I was out there around 5:30 and only for a couple hours. The current was strong today, had another epic tangle. Had 2 chovies stripped and somehow managed to catch a small rock off the bottom the size of a baseball! Reeling it in wondering what the heck was on the line. The rock had some sea weed type growth on it and we somehow snagged it. 1st time I've seen that happen!

Was out this a.m. for a couple hours. What a difference a few weeks makes. There were only 6 boats out (including two guides) and not a fish to be seen anywhere. Brutal current/water flow made it a little difficult for the lines to track straight. Not sure if the Cap run is now done with the recent rain. Regardless, it was absolutely a stunning day on the water once the sun came out.

Going out Saturday for one last kick at the can for the cap then calling it a season. Not expecting to get anything, just mainly sun and some beers :D I'll report back

I fished the cap a couple times this week, no salmon and didn't see any nets out. Happend to catch a flounder that I didn't even know was on my line..

Tried the QA once and nothing. Mouth of the fraser I kept hitting dogfish but no salmon.

Keep seeing the odd school around 40 feet down off the mouth of the north arm. Not sure what they are, maybe chum but they weren't biting.

Thanks for the report Trendsetter! Sure would like to get into some chums around locally, was marking similar schools around the cap mouth last weekend but no biters.

Was out off the Cap in the sun between 2pm and 4pm this afternoon. Had one good fish on briefly and saw one fish caught. It sounded like it was very quiet in the a.m. also. Great crabbing though ... 22 in the trap in 2 hours meant we were releasing a lot of crabs.
