Canucks 2021 Season

Agree, much better neutral zone coverage as the Canucks brought energy and deserved better after 2 periods. Start of the 3rd the Leafs brought it and game over. Gotta give the enchanted Leafs some credit here in the 3rd as speed kills. Free wheeling transition team for sure but a heavy body check once in awhile I think would have potentially neutralized them. We will never know.
Only thing the SN and TSN love fest for Matthews is really getting stale.

Holy crap Bell just pulled the plug on TSN 1040 mid show with no warning. What a joke. Bellletstalk is a joke. Try to promote mental health but then fire hundreds of workers to save a couple bucks, after getting hundreds of millions in government bail outs. Glad I don't own anything Bell.

I can't stand listening to 650. Their host are brutal and even the sound quality is worse than 1040. Brutal!!!!

Kinda of ridiculous, especially in the middle of a broadcast and considering what is going on in this world. Typical arrogant Bell Media considering the 6% dividend for the fat cats and the $123m of Federal Government subsidies. Van with the 2nd largest viewership, along with Winnipeg and Hamilton have been sacrificed.Low blow for the staff that's for sure.
All 3's rights were not owned by TSN, so guess what. Interesting that Edmonton survived though? Oh, owned by Bell Media. I will assume the Lions and Whitecaps will be looking for new broadcasters.

Pittsburg hired Ron Hextall as GM and Brian Burke as President of Hockey Operations today. Solid move in my opinion. Burke, the jury is out on him but he does provide a ton of experience in the front office.
Possibly may have looked good in Vancouver as well considering all that is going on here. Who knows anymore.

Totally agree. Curious to know the owner’s motives and what it would eventually take to trigger a similar change in Vancouver.

Interesting times for the owner as I am not sure how he and the fans can continue to stomach the way the Canucks are losing these days. JB's drafting record is Impeccable but his asset and contract awareness as we all know could be his eventual demise. I will assume his hands were tied with regards to buying out contracts. So, maybe in the off season push him into a similar role as Burke but to focus on drafting and player development, etc. If the motive is to move on from JB, the likes of a Ross Mahoney AM out of the Capitals or Kelly McCrimmon out of Vegas would be good candidates to consider. Just guessing but I still think if a change happens it has to be a seasoned individual.

This was absolutely shocking....what a garbage way to end this popular station. Paul Carson must be rolling over in his grave...Bell is a joke.
Like what would have been the big deal of a couple of weeks notice so they could wrap it up properly...I am pissed and Bell can kiss my butt...

Have to agree, aside from the $123M in wage subsidy grants they were given last year due to COVID the timing sure is interesting that they just finish up with the Bell Lets Talk Day last week and then start dropping the hammer this week. Add Dan O'Toole and other TSN television personalities to the list of cuts. I don't know how they remove 1/2 of arguably the best television sports duo in the country.

Yes, i'm totally choked! I was a regular listener like many others. The way Bell did the firing made it even more awful

yup, it's all about the "east" and profits, screw the left coast. I hope any bell cell phone users switch to another provider as soon as they get a chance.

I'm cutting the canucks some slack here and reserving further judgement until their schedule gets much easier and the other teams are playing what the canucks had to endure during their 1st 16 games, they really had no opportunity to work on much of anything to fix things, big dilema do you rest between games or practice hard, lol, there was no right answer but many players were obviously bagged. the canucks did make it thru those games without any significant injuries so far (harmonic is probably hurting them the most) I doubt many other teams will be so lucky.

the one thing that really pissed me off in the last few days was an interview with Hughes, and the litlle peckerhead says "I'm not worried about my defensive game" man o man I'd love to throttle that little ****, I hope he doesn't get near the contract Petey gets. It shows how much he misses Tanev and how great Tanev was at masking some of Hughes weaknesses, his points are great , his offensive give aways are brutal and his defense is worse than brutal.

just musing about the playoffs (probably not us, but one can only hope, lol) the canadian div will be at a huge disadvantage to any usa teams do to the travel involved up here compared to down there, one advantage could or could not be is the fact that all those games being postponed down there will give cdn teams some extra days off at some point, it's becoming a bit of **** show down there with the number of games postponed.

cheers nicnat

Well said about Hughes. He’s been pretty hard to watch the last few games. But then it makes you winder what Options the coach really has to patch the leaky defence

ya hopefully when harmonic returns he can play up to his potential it should help, maybe rathbone gets a shot soon

Hughes, rookie gaffs and will learn what to say openly.
As for the right defence losing Hamonic is a killer as he in my opinion was the insurance policy that JB required. Let's face it Benn is not a top 4 defensemen. Even though not game ready Hamonic was a top 4 defensemen throughout his career. Worst case scenario shored up the 3rd pairing.
Upcoming 4 game series against Calgary is a telling story. Interesting the Calgary team meeting to air things out I think was all about that rat nose Tkachuk and the antics he pulled in kneeing Toronto's Crawford. Should have been suspended and I feel the team was embarrassed by his actions.
Schedule comments are not exaggerated as the Canucks 6 days off happens in April, far too late. The schedule has been tailor made for the Leafs as it's all about viewership and broadcast $$$.
As for Bell, shameful but expected as corporate greed far exceeds common decency.

Better, tough loss, no luck. Calgary didn't deserve anything. Ex Canuck MVP Markstrom now Calgary MVP.
Canucks play so soft with no apparent identity is what I see. Flag football or Disney on Ice not sure which.
Myers was just horrible this evening.
Hoglander is a keeper. Horvat good in spirts but need more from the captain. On to Saturday and the Luke Hughes sweepstakes. LOL.

Don’t forget about Miller he’s also not 50% of the player he used to be. Agreed - watching both Hughes and Myers was painful.

As for Hughes unfortunately there are lots of reasons why he has the worst +~ in the league but at the same time he is an extremely gifted player and is the offensive PP specialist we have craved for years. What do you expect when you put him with pylon Benn a defensive liability on any given night. Tanev was perfect as he knew his role. No help on the horizon and teams are taking away the blue line on the Canucks stagnant PP. Get a big body in front of the net and maybe teams will think twice about taking liberties at the blue line. PP is so predicable in my opinion. Lots of slack for me on Hughes though.
