Boats on Used Victoria and Other Areas

Seems doubtful that this is a real Whaler given the price and overall level of finish - but the power looks good for the price and definitely a nice overall size/setup if you are looking for something small/fast for a day on the water:

Definitely not a Whaler. Looks like a plastic copy.

I am looking for a new family friendly boat and have many of the same requirements that Raincity had - the most stringent is outboard only.

This Monaro 27 is not outboard but checks so many other boxes. I would need to add a big bench seat behind the two helm seats.

I’ve never stepped foot on a Monaro. Any input from members. Is this worth exploring?

Is a diesel inboard such an awful thing? Seems like this is a boat that has been pampered over the years.

Thoughts? Thank you

Understand the desire for an outboard...but...if you are considering an inboard diesel, this is a great boat IMO

Probably has really good fuel efficiency with that new engine. If you plan a dozen 100-200 mile trips every year it could pay for itself vs a gas boat (with boat math ;) Monaro is still kind of in business which is a good thing. Is there a great Volvo diesel dealer where you live?

I keep my boat at Oak Bay Marina, conveniently located next to Gartside Marine Engines which is a Volvo Penta dealer. I have had zero interactions with them but Google reviews seem positive? I have never owned diesel anything in my life and don’t have a clue!

I have seen this parked at Stryker Electronics in Hardy for a few seasons now. Just a guess but I think it would be a bit of a project. I hear these boats have a very wet ride as well. Turn on the engine, turn on the windshield wipers…

I don't doubt that someone might have a great experience with that boat, but I personally wouldn't touch another inboard with a 10 000 foot pole. Nothing makes me smile more than seeing my engines lift out of the water.

Me and you are on Never AGAIN IO train, every time I see one at the launch I tell myself poor guy 😂😂
For decades, the inboard outboard was the preferred choice of propulsion, the boats that had them cost more to buy and sold for more. But the modern four stroke outboard motor has really changed the game. Maybe trolling with the I/O leg is not good for them?
