Boats on Used Victoria and Other Areas

This one also seems optimistic, following it since I have the same boat, 2 years older. Already knocked down from 49k after a week.
That looks super clean. You want to buy off an older fellow holding up his trout catch. Motors are new.
Worth negotiating for sure.

Edit... Just noticed the power is only 115. Assume this is under powered?

36' displacement with twin outboards. 🤨 I wonder if this has ever been built as it seems a very strange and specialized plan. If it is true displacement you would have a hull speed of about 8 knots. Why would you do that with outboards and not twin diesel inboards? I bet at today's dollar you would be looking at at least 550K+ for a bare bones build.

Yup it’s been built and for a lot cheaper. They have a YouTube channel. I thought it performed well if I remember correctly with small outboards. Ain’t no cat like our man down south but for a man with a tighter pocket book it would be a good long term cruiser.

Never seen one of these in person but it looks pretty dang sweet, especially if somebody has a couple of 200’s kicking around to toss on it.

Nice power and trailer. Be interested to know if steering and electrical was redone at the same time. Got a model number better yet a link to the catalog from that year?

I’d start with questions like has the gas tank been replaced is it accessible to inspect.

You are welcome! An aluminum cat would be the bomb, but I would have to win the lottery to be able to afford one. It's been a number of years since I was in Bamfield, but I remember seeing an aluminum cat out there which was partly what inspired us to try a cat. There are a few larger ones around Nanaimo and I drool when I see that tunnel sitting a foot off the water. I always liked the Australian Kevlacat and would probably sell my left testicle to get into one of them if there was a dealer here. Their 3100 series with an Alaskan bulkhead would be almost the perfect west coast boat I think. https://kevlacat.com.au/model-range-8-2-metre-series-3100/ There are a few that come up in NA from time to time, mostly on the east coast. Like this one: https://www.boattrader.com/boat/2000-kevlacat-offshore-2400-9765912/
Yeah, unlikely in this lifetime

What about the 26’ glacier bays? See a few around south of the border and pretty sure I fished on one outta renfrew about 15 years ago. I remember his auto pilot and twins being dialled. Bit too big for me but seemed nice / comparable to the tomcat?

That glacier bay is still guiding in Renfrew, he just finally ditch his etec for Merc this year

I looked at them when shopping got a Tomcat. The one I went on in Sidney only had a seating for 3, under the hard top in the cabin. I believe there are other configurations but they have a better walk around setup so a smaller cabin if my memory serves me. Great couples boat, I think. Harder for 4 people to travel comfortably was my recollection.

I might have found the one, though it appears I’m in the wrong line of business…36’, $577k

Displacement cats can slice thru the water and are able to greatly exceed the normal hull speed of a monohull boat.

I have a friend in NZ that builds displacement and planing cats. Here is an example of a 9metre displacement cat with twin 80hp outboards that can cruise at 16knts.

Lots of interesting boat designs in NZ.
