Hmm this is an interesting (and logical) perspective with the Rio aluminum smelter and potential for increased (local) supply of aluminum and ultimately Canadian made boats. Would love to support a B.C. builder, though not feasible with the current cost.Super curious.
Tariffs would make our aluminum more expensive to usa. . Dropping demand for it.. freeing up more of it for local consumption.. at possibly cheaper rates if there is a surplus. . 25% more for boats to be exported to USA would take demand down for our local builders... Maybe lower demand and cheaper input costs will equate to cheaper local options. I cant see hewescraft / north river or anything state side getting cheaper here over the short term. Uncertanty and less money all around should drop used prices. We are already seeing retail prices dropping, I think its a matter of time until the used market follows. I think the whole market was overheated before all the crazy down south started 5 weeks ago.
No idea on how long these broader supply chain changes could take but I would assume well over 12 months?
