The problem with the RioTinto smelter in Kitimat (if you can call it a problem) is that they don't make products ready for consumers. What I mean is that they don't make rolled sheets, bar, angles, etc. The output from that facility is huge rolls and huge blocks of aluminum to be sent to other mills for finishing to consumer specs.

I realize that typing this out my info might be out of date since I last worked there around 8yrs ago but that was certainly the case at the time, and there was no immediate project to change that.

I saw it and wanted to post it, so now I can comment on it without posting!

I don’t see boats in the list just awnings/biminis/sails and stoves for boats, but don’t take my word for it. I couldn’t believe all the food stuff, but maybe the government picked foods we can get from Mexico and Canada? I could see boats being added to the list in 21 days but I don’t think the tariffs will last that long. I don’t think Jack Daniel’s being taken off the shelves has made the national news but the bourbon and whiskey making state governors sure know it has.

The listing for C-Dory lacks the age of the engines, but if they are original that’s nice because the boat hasn’t seen much use. 250k or more new and someone could have it for 100k cad. I like the idea of 180hp I run 150hp and was doing 30mph last weekend. Trailer needs eoh in BC but it’s getting a little old anyways. Be interesting to see the survey, it is loaded with fridge, radar and possibly the full cockpit enclosure. It will be an expensive boat after upgrading the trailer but anything with a stand up head, galley and locking cabin and self bailing deck is going to be expensive used.

I heard "motorboats" are on the 21 day tariff list. Didn't say if that was just new or also used.

Oh.. guess that tracks. Per canada extract raw product and do as little value add in country as possible...

Yeah. Hope the trailer is included at least, although it had to have been sunk a few times too and is now 8 years old.

If it was only partially submerged and the helm was good that might add to the value, as you can get a set up used yamis almost reasonably, but the controls guages and props are a kick in the junk too.

I like the look of that hull, with the side door and front ladder. Trailers worth 15k, a 30x9’6” hull could be worth 100k?
