2025 Sidney Reports

So, having taken possession of my boat, I'm planning my first ever launch (assuming I can get the trailer out of our driveway🥵).

I was planning on launching at Tulista. It's an 18' aluminum with a 90 hp motor so it's not all that heavy. Can anyone tell me what kind of tide I need?

Thanks,
Dennis
Seen a lot of axles in the salt, at Tulista. I have abandoned loading the boat a couple of times rather than sink my brakes. I prefer over 4 feet but a bigger boat on bunks. If you have a trailer hitch extension, bring it this weekend if you are going in the morning.

Fishing for Springs was good in Sidney today. 5 for 8 nothing huge maybe up to 10 lbs. Did have one monster strike but hit and gone.
Sidney BC?!

8 springs today?!
Man you are a Chinook whisperer... I fished the 2 hours around the low slack tide and slack current 4:30-6:30 at coal with the legendary @cpony.

Nothing, nada, not a sniff. Did not see another boat in those two plus hours with a single net out that’s 7-8 boats zero fish at slack.

Can you effing pm me on where and what your tactic is? I haven’t had a keeper in Sidney this year.

Fair amount of bait around.

Hey Stizzla, Was definitely as grind. I got 2 at the Spit, 4 at Hamley and 2 at Fair fax. The really good strike was a Hamley. All on Bait. All high nothing deep at all. Above 50 ft. But on a side note. Got skunked today in Sooke for the 1st time this year. But managed two really nice Hatchery Coho.

Very slow this afternoon at Sidney spit. Got one just at the minimum keeper for chinook, another Shaker we didn't notice for 4 passes and a ton of seaweed. Haha

I saw 4 boats at coal. Has anyone had luck there? I know part of it is closed but the open spot is where I remember people getting fish.

We might try hamley tomorrow.

Hope some more fish come towards Sidney :)

When you say bait is that herring n a teaser head. Maybe I'll have to figure that out next year :)

Fished the open area again on the east side of Moresby 18-4. There were quite a few boats out. It was a super hot bite!! Pinks are still jumping and the odd coho is around.

We managed to land two nice keepers after a busy afternoon of fending off nearly 2 dozen shakers and a few 40-55 cm fish. We hooked (and lost) a nice Coho at the boat too. I haven’t been able to land a coho this year 🤦🏻‍♂️.

The biggest fish of the day took my lure as I was putting the line in the clip getting ready to send it down. I’ve never seen a chinook do that. Super fun fight right on the surface but odd behaviour.

All fish were caught at 87 and 107 on the rigger in 140’ of water. Skinny G was slaying. Good luck out there!

Another good day in Sidney today, 1 @80cm another one at 69, lost 2 and released a beauty wild coho. View attachment 120555
Where in Sidney were you ?
1- you could say any random location.
2- you could not reply.
3 - you could say the truthful spot ( knowing that it will be a different scenario in a day or two).
4 - you could elaborate with depths, lures, tactics ,time of day , etc…
5 - or none of the above.
6 - ( for the record I’ve had a few drinks tonight , and don’t need to know this info myself but feel that some others on this forum might be appreciative of the intel.
