2025 Sidney Reports

Very slow this afternoon at Sidney spit. Got one just at the minimum keeper for chinook, another Shaker we didn't notice for 4 passes and a ton of seaweed. Haha

I saw 4 boats at coal. Has anyone had luck there? I know part of it is closed but the open spot is where I remember people getting fish.

We might try hamley tomorrow.

Hope some more fish come towards Sidney :)
I got a couple there about a week ago

You can see the map.

Side note did they just change it to 2 chinook per person vs 1 today (Sept 1st)?

Hamley is open. Part of coal is closed but there were lots of boats trolling the open area yesterday and today. I haven't seen anyone post on here that they got fish there though.

We got 2 undersized springs at hamley. Lots of shakers at Morseby I feel like we should have stayed and keep trying there vs going to hamley. Seemed like more bait at Morseby vs Hamley.
Thanks smoked! So they’re just talking about the RCA? I know those, familiar with DFO map, that’s why I was confused about people saying closures. I thought maybe special seasonal zones. Good to know I can hit Hamley!

And yep - they put it to 2 chinook today. I just wish we could keep at 45cm like 19-4 🤷‍♂️

Do people use scents on their spoons? I see people in Washington and Oregon doing it but never hear about it here.
Some people really believe in scents. I had a few US clients that brought their own. I put it on to humor them but never noticed any real difference

Grinded it out at Morseby. Probably 6 other boats I didn't see anyone catch anything.

Went deep, got nothing. Cruised around for a long time, argued with my father in law for a hour or more about speed and depth and fishing haha. We changed it up and went closer to the rocks and finally we found bait. Got one right off the bottom right at slack tide. My second rod got little to no action. We tried lots of combos but nothing but shakers. My youngest loves the coho killer lure, probably because of the name. 3 hours of nothing but shakers on that rod we switched it and bam got one up to the surface and then I slightly let off reeling and it took off on us. I thought I was pulling it in too fast. Felt like it was the biggest of the day so too bad.

Later thought we hit ground on one side and then my son said we got a bite on the other. Pulled in our second spring. Went for another tack and argued about speed, slowed down and bam hit the bottom. Luckily we got free and as the sun set we took that as a sign to head home.

Great night, youngest one drove us back.

I'm wondering are people catching stuff off coal there were 4 boats there when we went out and boats when we came back.

Most action was on green flasher and lure. The green and green combo has been the best for us this past month.
