Everyones gonna be pretty tight lipped with the Sidney Anglers derby this weekend. Hope the fish arent (tightlipped) though!

Had 3 boys and another dad out. Prawning was slow but consistent. 1 dungee and one red rock in poorly baited crab traps, 90 cent Walmart cat food was worthless and prawn bait didn’t bring them in.
Trolled coal for an hour and a bit and saw 4 other serious boats, looked like pre-fishing for the derby. No nets out and no snifs for us. Quite a few diving birds kept us hopefully.
Spicy kimchi noodles, with only half the spice packets in thermoses were a hit with the boys, as was ripping off prawn heads.

Lots of out of town big guns pre-fishing. Hope you show them how the locals do it, steal the boat and the derby, let’s go!!!

Not today! Worked it hard but just a couple unders. Tomorrow we will go again.
Some controversy… I hear the biggest fish so far was DQ’d because it was gutted. Stay tuned for more action tomorrow

Wild fish are open in Sidney. Hatchery only in 19-4 and west to Sombrio.

Baby’s first derby!
My report was 18 hours of pretty much skunk over the weekend. (Couple of unders) Man we tried hard!
Some pro’s… zero lost gear, only 1 or two minor tangles that were less than 1 minute to fix. GREAT WEATHER!!! Great Company with @Soup Knot Sea. lots of phone help from other buddy boats via calls and texts. @Original giving me tips from the couch. You guys are all awesome!
Tried a bunch of tacs at Fairfax, coal, Pender and other sides or moresby. Tried bait, hoochies, spoons of different sizes. Just wasn’t our weekend for getting bit. Love the boat so much, I also got to see some serious eye candy with so many impressive machines. @carpeweekend don’t worry, yours is still the best
