Went out this afternoon. ZERO fish. That's how it goes.

Did get stopped by Fisheries, again. This was the sixth time since last December I've been stopped by some enforcement.
Three times Fisheries ,twice RCMP, and once Parks Canada who said they were also Fisheries officers. Five times in Sidney and once in Nootka. One day I was stopped twice last December. Always been treated me well. No infractions.

Last minute decision to take advantage of the weather and get out. Solo fish at Coal from about 10:30 - 1pm. One long line release on a good fish and then just before I pulled the pin, I picked up this male hatchery Spring. 72 cm, about 11 pounds. Very fat for a winter Spring and absolutely stuffed with sand lance. AP spoon on the bottom in about 100' of water.IMG_6003.jpegIMG_6005.jpegIMG_6002.jpeg

Any color as long as it’s green? 👍

We tried over by Moresby this morning 10:30- 1:30 on the change. Lots of boats, but no bites. Most boats were down at Fairfax so maybe we were in the wrong spot. Herring were spawning and pushed against the rocks so I guess the salmon had an abundance of feed. We tried several spoons (wee gee no bananas, Bon chovy SG, AP sandlance). Nada.

I was hoping to try there tomorrow.

Was the water milky? May try running over there and try to jig up some.

What a weekend, went out Saturday and tried Coal and Moresby but nothing but a long line release. Went out again this morning, headed over to the Powder wharf but the current was ripping (20 minutes heading South and 45 minutes or longer heading North). Picked up and went over to Coal around 08:00 and found this 15# beauty. Tons of bait at Coal and this one had a lard herring in it belly.
