2025 Bamfield and Barkley Sound Reports

Wow sounds like we got out just in time yesterday morning. We fished 8-8/8-10 second time fishing here, first time non-guided. Got a total of 6 chinook, and 2 coho for 3 guys fishing for 8-10 hrs a day. Most caught on skinny g Irish cream and cop car patterns fishing 70 - 100ft deep. Most chinook were caught near Beale, one caught at Sanford. Largest was 23 lbs ave was probably 12-14 lbs. We had early low tides and most of the chinook were caught before 7:30am.

Yes good think you hit out when you did, all roads closed to and from bamfield and no power predicted for several days. Bummer for all the bamfield residents to have this happen during peak tourist season. 1400 hectares now in a very short period of time. Let’s hope the rain comes and the conditions improve to allow travel to and from bamfield and the salmon roll in also in big numbers.

Just talk to jennifer at poet nook, there is no access in or out. This is as of10:30 am if you are booked at poet nook, it looks like we have a credit as we do for next year or a refund. I'm p***** there is no lightning. probably another man made fire fools
Apparently a vehicle fire spread to the bush.

Good coho bite at Meares this morning for the tide change. 45 feet on bloody nose anchovy. Saw quite a few boats hooking up. Hoping the fire gets under control soon, have to boat back to Port to pickup family that was going to drive in.

Any good evidence of this? Wouldn’t be surprised if it was more likely downed powerlines or a tree falling on the lines with the high winds.
I went and found the video that I watched earlier of a car fire on the road near China Creek. What I didn't see before was a time stamp for JULY 15, 2018. Sorry if I spread misinformation . Not sure why it popped up on my feed.

I'm supposed to be heading over tomorrow. Mills says they will have generators and temp freezers going. Be nice if we had a few more days to see how things unfold.
