Thought I might try second beach for coho. Got out late with my 91 yr old dad and kids. 7;45 lines in the water. 7:55 fish on. Thought it was a coho so I was about to help my ten yr old daughter with it, but nope. Its a spring and just as she put her hand on the reel it took off. That was it for her, whap on the knuckle. 12lb red. Setting the lines down the other side goes off. Same deal only help my son. Exact same scenario. Thought it was a coho for sure, soon as he put his hand on the reel fish takes off. Wump, #2 down. That one was abvout 1\2 inch short. 10 min later a feisty pink. Packed up and went to the North arm and within 20 - 25 min hit a screamer on a white hootchie. After pealing close to 100' off it slipped the hook. Setting that line and another one on the other side on anchovie. 17lb red. Setting the lines after that one the other side goes off, small wild coho. Again, setting that side and back to the other side fish on. 18lb red. By then it was getting to lumpy for the kids so called it a day. Biggest surprise of the day was getting the springs off second beach. White and green hoocthies in about 40' of water. North arm, anchovies and white hootchie. Anchovies at 69 and 59 on the rigger, white hootchie 20' back of 59. Going to be busy now for a couple of weeks. cheers.
