2009-Barkley-Bamfield-Poett Nook Fish Reports

Awsome report that halis a pig! What did it go? I think i met you guys early june at mills. Hopefully get out there with jonny jr guide this week for a run offshore. Were the coho thick enough you could flyfish for em? thinking about taking a flyrod.

Hali 135 lbs althought it felt alot bigger.
fly rod would be alota fun for them coho.
We were taking turns with my river rod with a Abu Garcia 6500 casting
a small Perkins to the Coho while troling. There were some coho over 8 lbs out there.

Kelly: Was in Bamfield the last week of June. Coho were thick enough off Beal to toss Clousers, drag Bucktails and catch coho (6-8 lbs) until your arms were sore. The most legal fun we have had in a good while. Colors did not matter, fish should be thicker and chunkier now.

Heyfog ducker, you look real hot on the water there. I was fishing in "slayer" sunday beside you. How did u end up doing?

Father inlaw and I fished Saturday and Sunday on southwest corner and closer in on the south bank. Limits of springs and coho in the boat, but no springs over 25 lbs. Lost one big one that we got a look at about 100 ft off the back of the boat, but didn't manage to land. Released at least 25 wild coho and kept one hatchery coho at 13 lbs. Released 3 wild ones at 13-15 lbs. Non stop action. All but a few of the fish were caught on a 6 inch blue and silver coyote spoon (the one with the holographic fish on it). Big thanks to Nog for the low down and gear advice. It was a nice way to break in the new (new to me) boat. Nothing like getting a little blood on the deck. Can't wait to get back over, but looks like I'll have to wait for the labor day weekend.

Ran offshore yesterday. Was a bit lumpy and scratchy for us. Lots of smaller springs and wild coho. We didnt get full limits for 3 guys but had an awsome day. Purple haze around 100 hit most springs/coho.
Osama the word was your client yesterday was a fun guy:D anything inside?

Just marked. We probaly hit 20+ wild offshore and were trying not to catch them. On the way in we tried to finish up our coho limit inside but only hit one. Look at the top springs belly. It was really red and the fish had worms. I have caught red bellied fish near spawning but this fish just looked unhealthy.

I would send the fish to DFO to have a look at and not eat it, etc...if you still have it intact and the entrails, etc.

anyone been fishing inside lately?...last time I was there (10 days ago) there were a ton of small springs and coho. Hoping some larger fish have moved in, I'll be there Friday.

Thanks

Dan
