Hey guys, it's been a busy week with my 3rd job while I take a week off from my real job. Helping a friend with Commerical prawing then been spraying the VC performance epoxy in the evenings.

I have been spraying the bottom paint. So far I'm on coat #4 and I will do the 5th one tomorrow.

The good news: It is a very slick slippery coating, seems to be very durable and it sprays easily.
The bad news: It's semi-gloss, so it shows all my lack of fairing on the bottom in spots where I gave up because enough is enough after sanding the hull about 4 or 5 times... Also, this stuff is a respirator-required job hand down. It's by far the most powerful smelling product I have ever used. Just brutal stuff. Probably means its really good :)

I plan to get the back tub all sanded and polished on Saturday. Then fix the anchor locker and re-upholster the downstairs on Sunday. Maybe start hanging some hardware Monday and on a trailer once the paint feels good and hard.

I cant wait to take the masking off!

May long has come and gone..many beers later and lots of sanding the part is starting to look the part ;)

Quick spray tonight to touch up the spots I burned through while sanding. Pretty normal to have that happen which such a large part.
For anyone looking for advice sanding and polishing Gelcoat, I have had excellent success STARTING at 800 grit. I use my electric DA 6" with soap and water (connected to a GFI cord LOL). Hand sanding the radius after. I have NOT polished the part yet, the shine is from sanding 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 3000. 1000, 1500, 2000 3000 steps go fast. I have to sand the entire hull with 1500-3000 to improve the colour match of the gel which is 95% perfect...When the gel was made, we sanded and polished a section of the hull vs matching to aged gel coat on the hull. No matter how good a job we did on the colour match a trained eye will see a slight difference so maybe next year it's going some light blue colour???

pro tip: Use a pump sprayer with a little bit of soap for wet sanding so you are always getting fresh water and reducing the chances of picking up some dirt in the sandpaper that would create tracers.

I can't promise perfection but I can promise to be above industry standard :p hopefully the drain holes work when she sits at rest..that has been keeping me up at night.
I'd like to see it splash before June 15th. I need to keep my foot on the gas!

All I gotta know is when can I drop mine off? This is sexy AF! There's a light blue IR running around and it looks great, if you decide to go that route. But yours looks awesome can't wait to see it pass me at 45 knots haha

45 knots I might need to stop pounding beers and lose a couple of pounds off my ever-growing man keg. 42 knots should be possible ;)

So if you are wetsanding down to 2000 or 3000, then you need to shoot on some more gelcoat on thin spots, do you need to rough it up again with 800?
I have a few brush marks in my new gelcoat from last year that I need to wetsand some more in places.
I'm going to try a Preval sprayer and some styrene if I need more.
I probably need some of the carbon stuff for showing low spots, too.
