WTB $300 000 Boat for $100 000. Serious offers only please.

Sea trial didn't go well. The mechanic started running through the fluids and it quickly became apparent that the engine compartment had flooded after the engine swap. The bilge pump, masurator and inverter were all pooched. There's water in the transmission fluid. Long story short is the owner has been told to make an insurance claim to basically replace EVERYTHING or the deal is dead. Friggen sucks.

Smart to walk away from this boat then. You don't need any headaches like that.

Man, that sucks.

My parents bought an old Canoe Cove 53 years ago. Dunno if they had it surveyed prior to purchase. I do remember when we discovered a water line in the forward cabins that indicated that the boat had partially sunk bow first....and we confirmed it when we found printed photos in a little photo album in the salon!

What did your wife think of the Cutwater now that she's seen it? Is it giving her any second thoughts about the Commander? I think the beam of the Commander would make such a huge difference in space for your family.

She actually never made it out. She did see one at the boat show though and really liked it. She did come and look two commanders though and gave them the big thumbs down. Although the extra beam is awesome in the commander it does come at the expense of another motor so twice the repairs and twice the fuel with them being almost double the weight of the cutwater. After three months of trying to convince my wife the commander was the right choice I've now spent the last month convincing myself that the lighter, newer option is better.

Gotcha, That's totally fair. Today sounds frustrating but I hope that you find something that fits your needs soon.

Sorry to hear this RC. There is a boat out there somewhere for you and your wife!

Would like to know what the heck happened to this boat though. New engine and now it has been flooded? Who knows what wiring issues and such with salt water intrusion.
Best to walk away and look for another one without issues.
Doesn't Blackfish Marine have some responsibility in this? They should know what they are selling and not waste your time and money.

Sounds like a very strange culture over there. The listing agent was a very young asian lady who knew nothing about boats. The guy that ended up showing me the boat, who just happened to be the guy answering emails that day, was Michael who seems like a standup guy. Without getting into too many details the issues may have been kept from him as well.

One of the reasons I liked dealing with Morley at Canmar. Never hid anything and was straight up with me. We still talk on a regular basis 2 years later.

Morley is good people for sure. Would have a beer with him any day.

Strange that the agent hasn’t even ran or checked those things before taking on a boat to sell. Says to me that they aren’t on the ball at all almost like a bad real estate agent lol

Wasn't his listing. And like I said the listing agent knows NOTHING, literally nothing, about boats.

He was as shocked as I was that things were as bad as they were.

You’ll love whatever boat you get. It will be like a home away from home for you all!
Keep looking and we will do the same!
Have you though of going to marinas and putting notes on boats that you like?

Haha never thought of that no. Not a great position to start from a negotiating standpoint. Appreciate the positivity.
