Unfortunately not.

The day before I was supposed to head out, my hunting partner called sounding like death warmed over.
He, his Lady & his Son all got the latest greatest version of Covid.
She was actually hospitalized for a short spell.
Given my pre-existing medical condition I could not risk heading over there even after they had recovered.

What made it worse is I passed up numerous opportunities on Island Blacktails - saving the tags for whitetails once again.

First time in 53 years I did not take at least one big game animal.
Stings.

Thankfully I have a few good buddies who are helping with our venison addiction...

Don’t laugh but I took a crack at making sushi tonite. Turned out pretty good for my first time, if I do say so myself. One crab/cucumber and another shrimp/crab.

Nice work, Clint. I add the Nori sheet and it makes it firmeramd holds things together nicely. This looks really good for a first timer.

Looks pretty good! I love making salmon and avocado rolls. Did you do the whole vinegar in the rice ordeal? It’s worth it

I did and for sure it’s a key element of sushi. Small town though so wasn’t able to gather all the stuff I’d have liked but now I have a list. Nori is at the top of it lol.

We shop at the Asian Supermarket in Kelowna about once a month. Just went last week so gives me a little time to Google a bunch of sushi ingredients. Turned out good enough I’d like to play around with it a bit. Gotta say my wife was pretty suprised.

I think it’s worth it, especially considering the price of eating out these days

That was it from 5 kilos of meat. 8 guys. Plus we had a crab dip, 6 bottles of wine, two loaves of bread and some cookies my wife baked up when she came downstairs to say hi. Amazing meal.

Found a nice pack of 4 Alberta beef shanks at Costco. These were marked halal.
So Osso bucco tonight. Lots of leftovers as pictured.
