What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

how do you like the cleaning mat? I think they work great, folds up into a roll, easy to store.
I bought one this year and like it. Cleans up pretty easily as well. Wish it was a bit bigger for those big salmon I’m always landing. ( I wish 🤪). Actually I usually clean any halibut I get on top of the engine doghouse so I wish it was a bit bigger for that reason.

I agree on the size, maybe offer 2 different size choices depending on what your normal catch is. I did a tyee on it this September, and if you remove the head right away it makes it a bit easier to stay on the mat.

That’s a great idea to install it zeroed at the corner so you can butt the fish’s head against the side for a quick and accurate measurement
That was the whole point. I got tired with the soft tape and the other odd rulers I have around the boat. Quick and easy 1 stop shop! As for the mat, I just got it and haven’t used it yet. I might pick up another one just because I have a ton of space back there and tend to do a lot of my fish while still on the boat.

I would think about scribing or marking a vertical line at the centimeter marks for Coho and Chinook minimum, Chinook slot size, etc., because a large fish on that ruler might not show the center of the tail portion “V” to the corresponding species and centimeter mark you are looking for.

I cut small triangles of blue electrical tape and stick them on at cm marks. For different areas you can reposition or replace.

If looks could smell. Looks like I had a blocked drain from under the tank into the bilge. No leakage yet but at 25 years old, it was clearly time.

Well I actually had canvas already, with a bimini soft top. The top was getting pretty threadbare but the sides and back are still in decent shape. Windshield is 3 pieces so doesn't offer very good visibility, so I was already thinking of getting a new one done, either in one piece or two. The hope was to reuse what I can of the existing sides and back pieces, perhaps with a few alterations/additions to make it fit the new structure. Unsurprisingly easier said than done though, so will need to think over my options on that for a while. I used the full canvas only on one trip last season - Port Mcneill in June, when it was raining quite a bit. The rest of the time I just ran with the top and no sides. I found it basically impossible to run at speed with the front windshield in place. So I will need to decide how much I am willing to invest in the canvas at this point.
I can recommend a canvas lady. She just built me new cushions for my Sea Chaser. Nanaimo based.
