have you seen if it is certified in canada? big gamble if something happens, could really affect your insurance policyI'm installing a Chinese diesel heater. They have mixed reviews but for $170, it's not a big gamble.

Yeah, I've read lots, heard the online drama and I know two people that have installed them with absolutely no issues. It seems most problems are attributable to faulty installations - SHOCKING! Mine will be correctly installed, with adequate, fused wiring, nothing in the engine compartment and with the exhaust line insulated and using the Webasto through hull, venting outside. I'll report back in a few weeks. I do have an extinguisher close by. lolNot unless fire is a common review.

Yeah, I thought about that. I asked my agent and she said it's up to me and my best judgement, using good practices in installation and in use. I'm using adequate fused wiring and marine rated A-1 fuel line. The exhaust tube has heat shielding and an approved through hull for outside venting. She says many owners do work on their own boats and that my policy has no exclusion to doing that. Her personal opinion is that diesel is much safer than propane or gasoline. As an aside she said using unattended residential space heaters has led to many claims. Statistically, most boat fires are caused by electrical faults, not by fuels. And of course I have a CO detector on board. I think I'm better off than using my Big Buddy heater.have you seen if it is certified in canada? big gamble if something happens, could really affect your insurance policy

Good news! I got the little heater plumbed and wired yesterday. I still have more ducting to connect but tried a test fire. It works like a champ! I'll replace the cheesy fuel filter with a sealed, metal inline unit and I have a metal tank coming but otherwise, it's great - lots of heat. I ran it for about an hour with flawless operation. Toasty warm in the cockpit! It will be fine. Use your head and do it right worst that can happen it won’t work for long is all.
Next level! Good stuff DonNew top, inspired by Stizzlas old ride.

Nice clean boat! I have a '96 542 & debating on repowering a 125 Merc. 2 stroke with a 115. How's it run now compared to your old Merc.?Ya, not mine unfortunately. It's been up on that hoist for 3 years now.
@ Stizzla, some clarification. It's special to me, but not compared to a lot of the boats on this forum. Hoping for many years of trouble free boating and fishing now.
@ Sea Chaser, I'm fortunate to have this building
@ Oly 1, it's a work in progress keeping it tidy
Is it me or does that Tohatsu cowling kind of look like a Storm Trooper.
