Started off salmon fishing off the bank wasn't as hot as sat but decent had to let go a couple nice fish got a couple 15lb hatches and some 6-10lbers to finish thing off then on to haly fishing very slow for the first couple hours we moved landed on em and got our 5 in short order largest was 40lbs,definatly salmon bellies today.

I saw a guy anchor his 16ft hourston rite in the middle of 15boats salmon fishing that was cool then i saw a guy in a group of 15 or so boats anchored from the stern you would think being in the middle of all those boats anchored bow first he might figure it out wow.

Smiley - Fished near you this morning - didn't see the one act comedy - like to see the pix. I was in 295' of water.
Boated two halis - one 20lbs and the other 40lbs.

Oak Bay was loaded again today with springs. 12 fish on including five in the boat. Only one wild about 18 lbs released unharmed.

Barbless is starting too **** me off though. lol.

Trend the last 2 days is some of the largest fish that pull hard and peel line right off the bat are the ones that get off. Maybe they just take it lighter.

For a Sooke guy very impressed with the action over there!

Hey Juan,
are you guys in the silver streak with Honda power ?
we hit a double header of smaller fish, 6-8 lbs and picked
up another similar size.
Had a burner on, and lost it ...

Are you on plastic or bait?

Cheers !

Sounds like salmon was on a little early, I must have missed you out there! Talk about all of the boats anchored up in shallow there, must have been murder on the bait with all of the little ling cod..

Yah that was him is this your buddy.....

Just a little close. Just tell him to take up his anchor if he resets and never do a circular pass very close to another boat set up. It just risks getting into a bad situation. If you do a move like that with bunch of boats might not be good. No harm done appreciate your honesty here. Everybody makes mistakes.

JUST FISHEN'

Hey smiley, that is exactly the same guy who wanted to drop his anchor right over ours about 4 weeks ago near Discovery Isl. Luckily he noticed me waving and yelling before the damage was done.

trophy2005, if that is your buddy please have a serious word with him as I have very little patience for people jeopardizing other people's safety for stupid reasons. He is a repeat sinner as I recall other members here mentioning a trophy with Merc and green canvas before as well. There is absolutely no reason or excuse why someone could not figure out what the radius of an anchor line in 300' water depth is. If he can't figure this out and draw a logical conclusion from that then he should give up boating altogether (and maybe other things too).

Hes still learning and yes when I'm out there with him there have been no problems. Chris 73 that day your talking about your ball was completely under water so we couldn't see it right away. We moved as soon as you waved so there was no harm done. Maybe you should get a bit bigger ball that people can see in the fast current. And no I;m not new to hali fishing just my partner there.

The fact the matter remains even if chris's ball was under water and you were that close to notice, dont take this the wrong way YOU ARE to close its a big ocean stay away from people plain and simple I really dont understand the gang mentalitity of people trying to anchor close.
completly hypothetical speaking if there is say 10 fish in an area and there is 15 boats all crowded together your odds have now completly decresed in a huge way why not go off away from EVERY one and compete for your and increase your odds thats how you get days when you get into multiple fish days ITS a big fricken ocean out there become a fisherman and go looking for yourselves.

Now go out there and post reports on fishing LOL

Fished the flats on the weekend. Nice weather. Saturday Landed a 50lb hailbut on Salmon gear and lost about a 15 lb Wild salmon nice fish and did he ever fight. Sunday released a 20lb wild spring and catch an 8lb hatchery. Overall not a bad weekend but it was slow going. Both morning there was a snap and then nothing. Was not able to fish the afternoon which seems to have been better.

Was out with Juandeone and CK on Sat. and Sun. on OB Flats. First time in a while I fished there. Over the 2 mornings we had 18 fish on and kept 8 using purple haze in the mud. It's great to have good fishing so close to home.

Long live wild salmon!!!

Launched out of Cattle Point on Sat morning. Fished the flats and circled around Discovery and Chatham Island. A few lings but no Salmon again!! Last year I was new to this area of fishing. I just showed up guess at the depth and location and caught fish every time I was out. Now that I am researching the charts, reading the forums, talking to the tackle shops, buying the gucci equipment....I've come home empty the last 4 times out. I got to stop over thinking things and thinking like a fish. Just a little frustrated. Come on Mother Nature don't make me go to Costco and buy my Salmon:D

Slack-Tider

Hey Slack-tider don't sweat it. When the Sooke boys are coming to Oak Bay for action you know that there are not a lot of fish around!!! it will hopefully heat up soon. Don't follow the herd unless you see rods popping off. Lots of great spots that people don't fish regularily , think like a fish and relaxxxxxxxxxx!
