With my 5 week vacation to Ucluelet starting in less than a week I am putting a call out to the experts for any Hali / Springer activities you have had or know about. We will be staying at Island West Resort and hoping to be able to venture out off shore most days in our new 31 foot Trophy. With such a long vacation we are interested in quality (size matters) not quantity.

Thanks in advance for any info you can share.

YUP?????????????

Converts to 1.6 fish a week per person plus bottom fish.
Lots of time for sight seeing and R&R.

I am only sorry if your not planning to keep up the tradition;)

I make no assumptions, really! It is a beautiful place to spend the summer, enjoy your time.wish I could spend five weeks out there in a year.Just a little jealous[xx(]

No place I would rather be (FISH ON)

I have often taken 5 or even 6 weeks vacation on the Island and often wouldn't even bring back my limit. Catch and release allows you to enjoy the fishing and not make a huge impact on stocks. I would still go fishing on the island even if you couldn't keep any salmon. It's not all about the meat, just being on the water on a great day is priceless.

If size matters, maybe try draggin' one of these around:

Should keep the small fish away :D Or try some big Tomic Plugs...

Seriously though, enjoy your time out there. I wish I could spend 5 weeks on the water.

I Know 5 weeks sound’s like a long time, I am sure it will go by fast. I have traveled all over the world fishing and I still come back to Ucluelet every chance I get as it is our favorite spot. Everything from the beautiful scenery, friendly people, great fishing and relaxing atmosphere make it hard to resist.

I did forget to mention that we are mostly a catch and release family and usually only keep what fish we can eat fresh.

The blue whale has got to get on the mass coffee production at 530am, puke boaters drain all the good stuff and there never is another 3 pots a going??? so not everything is so fine and dandy. lmfao

Any new reports? Heading out tomorrow for 4 days. Any reports would be awesome!! Looks like it's going to blow 25-35 nnw most days guess we'll have to be up and out there early and back before noon!

I do the Fishing, God does the Catching!

Just talked to Ocean Rambler.... before he had to go chase a bear off his freezer, lol. Could be some sausage coming up.

report is that outside South bank and SW corner is hot, hot for lots of teeners and the odd 25. He got a 30, day before yeterday and a 35 today with lots in the low 20's. A few good yoyo's in the mix to 14 lbs average 4-5 trip.... Slow inshore as he did an afternooner inside due to the big blows. Hali is good 95,65,60, and 45 lb hali last two trips! A few recons out the wreck etc, mostly just hali and smaller Springs. Spoons and Hootchie show, not on the plugs much yet. I gotta get back up there.

Sorry SWC, haven't been to Uki recently so I can't help you out.

Hey Fishchaser, glad to hear there are progressive Americans coming up here like yourself and family. Nice to hear of tourists who come to enjoy the experience and not just to rape and pillage our stocks. I hope you and your family have a great trip here.

Oh BTW, bendenhooks here's a new acronym for you LMWIS. In my version I'm not talkin about sweat. I'm referring to another anatomical function that starts with "S".

Herd the same think from Myster yesterday. Lots of action and a few of the bigger boys mixed in with the teeners. Southbank's been the spot, I'l be up in a few days to check it out;)

Pass the Pack

Hot and gettin' HOTTER!
~ 40 springs to 35 pounds and a handful of coho yesterday morning. Finished on them pretty quick, so wandered over to the Hali Hole. Seven hali's and a big ray in about an hour. And.. it keeps getting better every day! ;)

Time to get out and PLAY Ladz! :D

Cheers,
Nog

Fished Monday and tuesday at Ukee, we didnt have the same results as Matt, half day monday at 5 mile bank got some 20ish springs and a limit for 3, scraping bottom the whole time for hali,s, dint find halis or coho that day but masses of bait balls chasing masses of krill, impressive biomass!!! next day we couldnt decide on SW corner of shallow spot, chose shallow spot and has awful results compared to 3 weeks previous, rough water at beginning and it died down later in day, found some coho(limit of hatchery) but NO halis, went back in to get the 2 day posession of springs and due to sea sickness of one of our party, we went in on **** calm weather, bad mistake. Next day was even calmer seas and sea sicky wants to go home so off we go leaving reports of good hali fishing, prob where Matt was fishing?? sad results for us

Cammer, try the patch plus a Bonine(meclizine) pill the night before and one before heading out.
