Well spent a bit of time on the boat today. Made up some transom pates and installed the new to me 40hp. Turned out good but just need to adjust the trailer to gain a bit of tongue wait back.

Wondering how slow I’ll be able to get down my trolling speed with the 40, boat is rated for it but it’s a lot of motor on there lol.I’ll sort that out once the boats rigged out with floors and rigging.

You should be able to get down to 1.0 - 1.5 m/hr On similar sized boats with 50 hp we can get to about 1.8 - 2.0 m/hr just depends on the boat. If you are fresh water fishing and want to get slower we use drift socks to get down to the 1.0 - .5 range for dragging bottoms bouncers for walleye. These new little 4 strokes can idle down pretty good and still run smooth. Unfortunately in order to get at the idle pretty much takes a tech.

Well haven’t had time to work on the boat for a while now. I have two months to get it ready for books and that includes wiring floors and all rigging as well as the new 40 didn’t work out so I ordered a new 30 that will require at least 10hrs of break in. I’ve been working on parts and fabing up stuff in the shop here and there but now it’s time to start installing them. Here’s today’s progress and now it’s off to Brando and Hal for bow rails rigger mounts and centre seat fish hold.

Capped off the back saddle seats with 1/4 starboard. This will also be done to the rest of the seats once fish tub is installed in the middle seat.

Lookin sharp, nice work.

A few update photos. Brando worked his magic again and helped me out with the rigger mounts and centre seat fish box. Waiting on the bow and stern rail materials to get here hopefully soon. Got the majority of the wiring done and will be moving on to floors and new motor this weekend. Looking forward to dragon some gear soon. More to come!

It appears that you removed all the floatation in the seats. Is that the case? If so what will keep it afloat in the event of the unthinkable? I own a 14 ft Lund that has neutral bouncy and when full of water will stay floating. Just curious

Yes I have removed it for now. Once all is done it will be re foamed around the fish box and in the saddle tanks with spray foam. Won’t be as much as there was obviously with the new additions but there is foam going back in.

Good plan. Looks great so far. You don't need a big boat to catch fish.
