Squid fishing maple bay?

So I remember some years back hearing about squid fishing in maple bay on Vancouver island. I know NOTHING about squid fishing but I want to take my kids to do it. I have a boat so no probly to get to grounds to do it but aparently there's a time of year u can squid fish off the docs and catch them. Please send me all your squid fishing knowledge and or what u were told and can't confirm truth!

Off the government dock right in front of the beach. Lights on overhead.
Can’t remember the time of year but it was warm and you definitely don’t need a boat

Ya. Squid love bright lights. Try around midnight. That’s when I see them at the docks up in Nootka usually in early July.
