And still Pounding Down!

So the City, in it's overwhelming lack of wisdom, decided not to plow or sand / salt even the main drags yesterday. Of course folks drove on them as they day warmed slightly and melted a little of the snow / ice. Overnight the temps went well below zero. The result this am is all the roads have turned into curling rinks. Cars sliding all over the place and even small hills presenting large obstacles to many.

Got the Missuz to work (4x4 all the way and back) but a lot of folks won't be making it. All schools closed and many businesses.

Oh so preventable...

Sigh...

The city workers in Port are on strike so weren’t working on the weekend. I believe only management was out plowing.

No snow here in Guayabitos

We were in Roberts Creek Saturday Night and on the midmorning ferry home yesterday. The Ferry annouced that the upper levels was a mess and told everyone that it was recommended that people take Marine Drive to the Lion's Gate. and avoid the upper levels

My wife asked me which route and I said Upper Levels wll be better, none of these people have proper snow tires and all the hills and tight corners on Marine Drive will be a disaster.

Our car has AWD and has 4 real snow tires . It was an easy drive home at 50 KMH not so easy for the all seasons and no seasons folks .

-10 and an inch of fluffy dry pow in Penticton. Really this is the first week of winter. We've had a couple of light snowfalls before this that I didn't even bother to shovel, you could tell it would melt quickly. Been great weather for builders until now, but this too shall pass. Could well be the only week of proper winter we get.
