SFBC Braggarts Fishing Derby

Thanks for the back up RS :D

pretty sad when ppl have to ***** and whine about a discount when the event is a fundraiser....pretty disgusting really......i am actually in a bit of shock after reading the last few pages of this.....where is the shaking head emoticon.....good on ya rollie for organizing this and puting up with all the BS....some ppl man......holmes*

Pretty sure its about the principle, not the discount. I've never attended a fundraiser with a "discount" to a certain group for raising funds LOL, seems contradictory to the event doesn't it?? I would feel like my entry contribution would be paying the fare of the discounted SVIAC members.

Sculpin wasn't stirring the pot as best as I can read...he made a valid point on behalf of the members of this forum. He is right. The event started here and has built steam through its members. The reach of this forum is pretty impressive, and the impact this group can make for a business or event like a derby is definitely noticeable.

I am not stomping on the efforts of the organizers, and of course you can't please everyone, but without the input of members like Sculpin, willing to say what needs to be said, those voices wouldn't be heard. He is the only one willing to speak up about it but how many members had the same feelings? Now, Rollie has come up with a great compromise so everyone has the same opportunities.
In the name of fund raising though, I'm not sure why a discount is offered to begin with. This event should have nearly 100% of the entrants in for the fun of it and the funds are going to a well deserving cause. If a $20 discount is what brings the crowds to the event, I would question their motives. Wouldn't it be dumb to have a non member of either group win the event? It would be hard to claim bragging rights if no body knows who you are.

IMO: scrap the discount, raise some funds, win a banana. Pretty shweeet!!

Is the trophy under construction? I'm interested to see how she looks for sure.

Sculpin raised a valid point and it took me a few pages of back and forth to understand where he was coming from. Being late at night and having had a few pops down at the Esquimalt Anglers earlier probably had something to do with not figuring out a solution a bit faster. I have no problem with what i decided last night. Both SFBC & SVIAC members get a discount, those on the outside pay a bit more and is incentive to get involved. Lets just put it to bed now...done. If you need to fight go to the halibut thread!!! LOL

HHMMMM lets put this in a nut shell proceeds going to putting a lobbiest in ottawa to fight for all sportfishers in b.c hmmmm yeah thats sounds bad doesnt it!!!!! so in the future when our fishery is hleped you can say NOPE i wont/didnt support that!!!!!
The coalition is about one thing and it doesnt matter what region or area its about keeping our fishery open and playing on a level field WE NEED someone there to fight sitting back and doing nothing isnt working so ask yourself why you wouldnt become a "member" so you can fish later down the road???? mind blowing?????

I personally cant do it as i have to work so be it but I do support and commend Rollie for trying to help .... more than some on this forum!!!!!

Haha so true!

This is one event I'm really looking forward too. I eat bananas on the boat regularly so I have no qualms with hooking a trophy version to the bow! Sounds like good fun.

Ok guys the issue is resolved. Lets get back to what this is about...fun for us here and some money for the cause. I don't want everyone showing up pissed at each other ready to scrap! lol

Bingo!!

Thankless work organizing events - LOL!!

Good to see us back on track. I'm planning on attending for sure!

Sorry, the spoon comment was in regards to me almost posting something that wouldn't have added anything to the thread. Seeing the time I posted it now I could see how that would have been lost on everyone else. Thanks for the efforts craven. I'm fired up for the derby. Thanks for all the effort put in profisher I'll likely swing into Wisebuys sometime next week.

All the vendors now have derby and private party tickets. Island Outfitters, Wise Buys, Eagle Eye & Pedder Bay Marina. As an organizer I encourage you to buy sooner rather than last minute. Makes our job of planning much easier. If you buy a party ticket there is a spot on the ticket stub to indicate yes or no for a rider home. Please fill that out...again helps us plan for the right number of vehicles and drivers.

Same as the halibut seminar. Just email me for my mailing address. Send me a cheque for the total amount you want and I'll mail tickets back to you. Just include a self addressed envelope with the postage already on it so all I have to do is put the tickets in it and drop it back in the mail....easy peasy.

Being a member here it as is follows...1 ticket $80 2 tickets $60 each 3 or more $40 each Private Party $10 each If you are not a member here or with the SVIAC it is $20 more per derby ticket in each price group.

Uh, am I missing something? 2 tickets are the same price as 3......

You are right... :D

E=FB?? what the....lol

I like the pricing it's more tickets per boat then per rod I'm guessing 2 guys (or even 1 guy) can fish 3 rods or more if they want. Guys who buy more tickets can enter more fish for hidden weights etc. which there should be a few of.

LOL, the idea is to get everyone to fill there boats with buddies. The more in your boat the cheaper per person to enter. Dave you are right as we are not counting rods, it is the number of guys in the boat. Gives us the chance to introduce more anglers to the site and the coalition. Chris Bos will have some time to speak to everyone while we wait for the weigh scale results on the final day. He will explain the coalitions plans and take any questions. If you like what you hear you can buy a membership to the SVIAC there too.
