Seasport skipper 19 podding project

I’m getting things cleaned out. Last thing to come off the stern is the kicker. Will pull boat out of shelter tomorrow and hook kicker up to battery and start it up and run to show that it runs well. Will then put it up for sale.

Disconnected and pulled all the components for the autopilot which I’ll also try and sell. It served me well and ran great all summer again. Keeps boat on straight line, allows turning to change course and also has throttle actuator with idle resume. Was a 3 grand item back in the 2000’s, might get a few beers for it now 😉.

Engine compartment and transom are getting very bare. Still need to remove fuel filter housing and replace with a new two outlet unit. Will then wash and scrub it till all clean. Then it will be off to the fiberglass people.

I don’t think it’s exposed wood my seasport was fully fiberglassed around the cutout this one looks the same.
It has some sort of coating over the exposed wood, it looks like it’s gel coat. It's in the original condition. Looks a bit rough as I still need to degrease and clean the whole area along with the engine compartment.

Here is how we stand. Kicker and bracket is still needing to come off. My plan is to fill all of the holes and start totally fresh. Unless you think any of the existing rigging holes are worth using. Not sure where they are usually drilled out for the outboards.

Fill all the holes and get it gel-coated to match. Nice clean slate to work off.

Are you going to keep the bilge drain? It will be in the way of the pod. Some pods have a scoop out for the drain ,usually on center though.

The current bilge drain is useless. The water needs to be 3-4” deep in the bilge before it would drain an ounce of water. I’m going to plug it and was thinking of getting the hole put down in the bottom center where it should be. The pod guy says that he indents (scoops) the pod where the drain hole is (when it’s bottom center) and runs the indentation along the bottom a little way where he Peter’s it out.

Just delete the drain hole all together. Put a few coats of epoxy primer in the bilge area and Get 2 good low profile pumps and bleach/shop vac your bilge before winter storage.

That’s probably a good idea. I’ve never used the drain in 16 years due to where it was placed so it certainly won’t be missed.

I have the drain at the center bottom, but with the self bailing deck ,I don't use it.I do get some water in there sometimes probably from washing the deck.I keep a hand pump in there and pump onto the deck what the bilge pump doesn't pick up.I might keep my halibut anchor, scotsman and rope in there this year to keep it off my back deck.

I’ll likely just seal it all up and not have a drain hole.
Do you have a picture of your deck and hold. I’m trying to figure out how I’d like mine to be.

That’s a nice clean look. What do you keep in the compartment in the lower middle stern. Is that where your batteries are?
Do you have any compartments in the deck side stringers?
Is you fuel tank the 50 US gallon tank?

There are no compartments port or stbd sides,I assume their filled with foam,no access to see.Batteries are in the drop down hatches either side, but I'm going to change that moving them forward. Not much behind the lower transom hatch,it's pretty narrow.Haven't checked tank size, but 50 gallon seems right.

My compartments port and starboard are hollow. I took the foam out when I did the stringers back 6-7 years ago.
