Sandheads Sockeye

If it happens, it's a good time to get all thoses friends out who ate always asking to fishing. Use at least 40 lbs leaders as pulling the fish in by the flasher and avoiding the net will be quite helpful at times of multiple hookups

Not sure Freds carries saltwater gear?

Ya....being in Chilliwack which is just west of Calgary it may be a bit more difficult finding saltwater gear. If you don't want to come all the way to Richmond or Vancouver you should be able to find what you need at Army and Navy? I have only been in the Wholesale Sports in Nanaimo which was pretty good for saltwater gear...not sure how the one on this side is. Dennis....I know squat about any tackle stores east of Main Street in Vancouver thru to Calagary (except one fly shop in Little Fort :p) so can't help ya.

Pacific Net and Twine....and Nikka are right by each other in Steveston so you can hit both if need be. I have always been treated well by PN&T, so if making the trek to Steveston they get my business.

I only threw Nikka out there with the link so Dennis could see what Kone zones and in lines were. It and PNT in Steveston are both great shops.

A and N in Langley is GOOD if it is stocked well, nows the time to get the mini hootchies etc but between it and WSS (costly ) you dont have to go all the way to Richmond/Steveston

If ya PM me I will give you specific details.

Thanks for all the replys everyone. Nice diagram BGM. Im getting back into Saltwater fishing after many yrs fishing the Fraser gong show. Lol. We didn't fish Sockeye in the chuck back in those days. Would see them jumping everywhere and on rare occasion, would catch one using bait when we targeted coho around the coal port. My Dad (inherited a ton of salt water gear from him after his passing) always said the Sockeye don't bite in the Ocean.Lol. Im going to make the trip out to Stevenson (haven't been there for yrs) and buy some seafood off the docks as well. Make a nice day trip.

Just a little overkill.
The dummy flashers above the rods will catch the line belly coming up from the clip.

Run dummy flashers on the ball, 10' up run your first rod, 20' run your second rod do the same for both sides. Downrigger depth at 75' the other side at 65'. Use blue hot spot flashers with MP15 hootchies tied with 2 black gammy 5/0 hooks. Troll at 2.4mph. Then watch the rods load up.

Exactly....really is as simple as it comes, once you hit a school...

you been out lately Canso?

Not since Father's Day. I've been doing some interior lake fishing, then taking the family to kelowna for camping and water sports. Back in the saltchuck Aug. 3rd, Just in time for Fraser springs and sockeye.

Thanx man. Should I run two dummy flashers in line off the balls?

One anway I was just experimenting with that rig now I run a Kone Zone chain.

One lure that works like crazy for Sockeye is the Googly Eyed Wild Thing as shown made by some guy in Port Hardy- http://www.djslures.com/

I notice there's only one left in the Sockeye box and have no idea where I bought them around here-easy enough to make yourself if you have time and small fingers.

We used these in PA and Osoyoos for Sockeye and they slayed, they have their own action so a really small flasher in line or dummy is all that's needed. The line and hooks they come pre rigged with is a little light, but they worked great. Can't flip em into the boat though unless you beef up the line and hook. They were more designed for Kokanee.

BGM....you buy those Wigglehoochies from Shasta Tackle?

watched 'em use those for big Cutties (trolled) in Lake Washington on the "Angler West" t.v. show on WFN........very good.....
