Prawning Winter Harbor

I’ve been going to winter Harbor for the last four years mainly bottom fishing and I’ve been quite successful. This year I thought I’d bring my prawn traps and give it a try. Just checking to see if anybody has been successful running out of winter Harbor and setting traps there seems to be lots of places close in the 3 to 400 foot depth.

Over the Christmas holidays, I have good sets for prawns around Drake Island, but that's a long ways from the summer fishing grounds.

I'd read that there can be prawning between Pilley Shoal and Bedwell islands, and I tried once 7-8 years ago, but pots were empty after a 6hour soak so I never tried again.

Commercial is still hammering it right now. Mostly closer to Coal.

They may be hammering it, but are they catching anything?
I have heard some sad reports from that neck of the ocean, hope they are isolated and not a collapse.
