Just got back. Overall trip was decent. There are some coho inside the canbuoy and some pinks around. We never ended up landing a squid, but we got into a school of them and had one on. both rods started doing weird stuff, it was like they were being hit but the rod would come up before going down then it would be gone - finally I checked one side and it was empty and then the other rod starts pulling line. My gf had it on but eventually the hooks pulled out and we ended up with a small piece of squid on a her hook! I think what the squid were mostly doing was grabbing the clip - thats the only thing that would explain the rods going up first then not hooking anything. anyways, a guy at the dock gave us one and I tried some last night - not bad.
We fished for a couple hours saturday - didn't get up early, 930-12 - then got blown off so picked mushrooms. Sunday was beautiful and calm, it was hard to leave. We picked a few more mushrooms on our way out sunday. We found a pretty sweet spot but it had been picked already. Still, there were alot of shrooms there and all said and done we had 9 lbs.
Another point of interest - I've probably fished renfrew a dozen times, and for the first time there were swells crashing on the sand spit right at the river mouth! It was a bit of a shock considering the size of my boat - seeing guys surfing rollers crashing where we're trying to get through! Is this fairly common??
