PINCH ME

Turns out the riggers and mr3 are going back as I think it’s the neighbour’s.

Sooo I’m looking for a good deal on downriggers if anyone knows of any.
I’m also gonna go worth the black TMX 5’s tomorrow as I don’t have to budget for multiple islanders.

The neighbors riggers and reel?
It's all making sense now.
Did he sell you his half of the boat for $35K ? ;)

sad when youre too old to enjoy the brand new thing you just bought. awesome deal but i feel for the 80 year old having his dream crushed.
pretty much why i bought my catamaran now even though it was the wrong time to buy but i couldnt have handled commissioning it after 50 anyway. some boats are too physically demanding after you pass a certain age.

Why a new impeller - isn't it only a 1 year old motor? Likewise, if you are concerned about the fuel, just syphon it out, throw on a new fuel filter and you are good to go.

Instead of running it on muffs, just empty out a big garbage can and fill with water - better test for the impeller.

Good question. When I talk to him, he said it was only a year or two old. It turns out it’s a 2021. It’s got five hours on it and I think the gas has been sitting for about two years. He had the kicker in for one servicing, a year and a half ago, but they didn’t do the impeller then. It’s still like the idea of it sitting for so long

I would do the same preventative maintenance as you are; it isn't the age of the impeller, it's the sitting that would concern me. Purging the gas and filling with new gas is a small hassle to prevent a potential big one as well.

I have the same motors on my boat. I replace the impeller on the main engine every 2 years, regardless of the hours. It’s a relatively easy thing that you can do yourself and save a lot of hassle. For the kicker, I’ve pushed it to every 3 years as it gets good use during the season. Make sure you replace the Racor filter and add a can of Seafoam for the first outing. I’ve noticed that the main motor isn’t really that sensitive to old gas but the kicker really doesn’t like the gas that’s been sitting for long esp. if there’s no stabilizer in the mix. You’re gonna love those motors.
