Lack of enforcment....complete joke

I finally got my C# for my guide boat, I started in April when I took possession of the rig. Not that it really matters if you walk down 'guide row' in a place like Ukee. Some of the 'guide' boats are clearly non-compliant in many regards. A prominent operator does not even have ANY numbers let alone a C# on his boat. There is 1 operator there with a blue inspection sticker.
You gotta remember too... The RCMP is only mandated in certain areas to enforce and Fisheries is NOT one of their per views. Same goes if an RC or Fisheries came to check my boat for compliance, I would tell him to kindly get lost, or prove to me he has the authorization to check me. That is Transport Canada which farmed that out to the CCG. Gotta know the laws in this country and whom the jurisdiction belongs to.

I think we agree Peahead. Just don't tell me I shouldn't be allowed to use the gym or photocopier at my school once the kids go home. Sorry to push the thread off topic. It belong elsewhere anyway.

Sorry cheech , RCMP have full authority to enforce all laws of this country. The Canada Shipping Act 2001 (which lays out what commercial vessels must have etc) was fully passed into law in 2008 with addendums passed this year. Both DFO , Transport Canada and Canadian Coast Guard have full authority to enforce the Canada Shipping Act as well.

Judging by the photo they might want to step up the patrols!

Well put and what i was told all along...
Problem is that almost all the RCMP as well as TC know less than us about all the enforcment....seriously!
The photo that is on page one is just once...of many times I personally saw this vessel along way's from hardy fishing with different people.
The people/clients on board were most likely not RCMP individuals accept for the operator.
Most of the time was also not on a weekend if that makes any difference.

LOL you guys never friggen heard of surveillance???? They build cases over time..you guys expect an immediate arrest with skimpy proof? Maybe they are watching the known non-compliant vessels, playing dumb, but all the time taking notes of who is out from day to day with so many so called friends. I'm sure there is a method to what they are doing...like getting people to drop their guard assuming they are off duty...give it time.

On a lighter note, reminds me of a time on a busy river fishing in the middle of a tight line of a dozen guys. Other people were coming and going, and standing around taking in the situation. One guy that was standing back watching moves to the upstream side of the pool and line of fishers, then waits till the first guy reels his line in. Produces his badge and says, I'm going to check your tackle when you reel it in. He proceeds down the line of fishers as we each reel in, of course no one had trebles or barbs or ....., so he gets to the end of the line, then says out loud, HEY LOOK AT THAT, IT'S COFFEE BREAK, and then gets his rod out and joins the group fishing the hole, we all just about fell in laughing. That said, he was not using gov't boat, gas etc.

They are all people too....not much different than you or I

Some of you guys get off on bitching don't ya?

I'm ok with this. Looks like these guys are off duty (hoodies, jeans, shorts)Maybe there superior said that they could take out the boat if they wanted but just had to cover gas. We pay for their services via taxes, and they put their lives on the line for it. How many companies do you guys support that have employees that use vehicles for personal use, expense things that aren't entirely work related, etc, etc, ??? Lots I'm sure.

So get over this, Nothing will come of it.

I wonder if they got anything? :D A pic of the RCMP zod with a 80 lb flattie coming over the 'Toon would be a cool pic.
They still coulda fired up the motors and come and checked ya..
I think I would worry more about our tax $$$ feedin the druggies..

My .25 :D

Wow this thread is weak! If you were busting your butt, working a camp job like these guys, away from your families for extended periods of time and got a chance to spend a couple hours fishing, wouldn't you take it? I don't mind forking over a couple of my tax dollars for RCMP morale to make my waters safer. Richmake and others... don't you recall the RCMP taking millions of dollars worth of cocaine out of your waters a few months ago?? I guess that was just luck.

Yup, you can do that but they will take the time to do it and be a$$holes when they come aboard.
Not sure it would help ya[?]

Big deal, lighten up. Who knows how many hours those boys put in ?
And if you hate cops, next time you need help call a hippie. lol

Too often our RCMP members believe that laws and regulations do not apply to them.

To me, this is not such a big deal. But, are these all RCMP officers? Are they all off duty? If they are, what the hell are they doing out on a craft meant for other purposes?

We've had too many bad incidents involving RCMP officers lately. This seems to be just a small example of the attitude that leads them to believe they can do as they please. And a body here (tasered), a body there (drinking & driving) and sooner or later maybe we get concerned.

If RCMP officers want respect, they should be exemplary in their behaviour. These clowns look like any other set of yahoos around.

Everyone is entitled to complain every so often, this isn't that time. Maybe if you pinched your barb and/or kept only your limit you wouldn't be so sour towards enforcement.

Oh yeah, try working a 12 hour day dealing with disrespecting @#&!#$, and see how you do!

Sounds like someone is jealous... I wish I could get paid to fish like that.. Without any annoying guests..
