Maya Riviera fishing April

Tips Up

Staying at Barceló Maya Riviera for 10 days mid April. Looking to book a charter for my group. I was in Akumal a few years ago back same time of year and fished out of cancun. It was pretty uneventful. Any suggestions in the area?

Fished the Caribbean from Cozumel down to Bonaire for years, always from February through April. Some wahoo, a few dorado and barracuda as well as black fin tuna. I MHO, the fishing was never worth the money. Don’t let them sell you on what you ‘may’ catch. If you love to fish and don’t care about catching, have at er. But don’t expect results you would get on the Pacific side (Cabo, Xtapa)
Again
IMHO

Thanks. I know it’s not best area or ideal time. Last time we caught 4 dorado and had 1 sailfish hit and not stick. I’m going with 4 couples. This would be an excursion for the boys. We all love fishing and being on the water.

Cool
If it’s a boys day out and you you’re out there for fun, it should be a great day.for many, paying $700-$1000 for suntanning on the water is a bit much. Unfortunately, many of the charters hype it up with the bigger species such as marlin or yellowfin tuna knowing there is little to no chance. Going in with eyes wide open makes the day better. As they say, a bad day fishing is better than a good day in the office!😉
Have fun!!!!
