Halibut surface feeding frenzy

so cool.. i got a 80lber once,, cut plugging at 30',, in 250' of water!!

We were anchored in 10' of water, eating steak dinner in an open boat, when my wife said "what's that finning in the shallows". We watched for a few seconds, as a fin was lifted over a rock. Then it turned and swam slowly along the bottom toward us -- a halibut 100+ pounds. Jan dropped a salmon rig about 6 feet down, and it was on! Unfortunately thru a kelp bed and into 100 feet of water. We followed, but it broke off in the kelp. The only time we've seen one that shallow - we keep hoping.
