Want to target halibut, thinking winter harbour but can travel the island. Options are winter harbour, port hardy, ucuelet. Where would you go?
That is my first thought. Plus salmon should be goodWinter Harbour is also an excellent choice.
long term windy for the long weekend does not look great. That is my first thought. Plus salmon should be good
The thought of the road there being so lumpy thru to cowichan makes me cringe. I know take it slow but !Port Renfrew?
With all the stupid, ineffective SKRW area closures around Port Renfrew are there many productive halibut spots left to fish?

The Sooke route is worse, but if you are patient and take it slow, it’s fine.My boat stays out there for the most part but I do travel with the boat a few times a year. Its really only the last 15 mins that it can getting a bit rolly. Just pick a speed and the extra 10 minutes or so won' matter in when you get there. I can drive it with my eyes closed after the number of times I'm on it....lol
Yeah…I never go that way….lolThe Sooke route is worse, but if you are patient and take it slow, it’s fine.
Sooke Route is the worst I've seen it in years. Few spots you need to slow to a crawl.Yeah…I never go that way….lol
My wife got a 124 cm hali here in early JulyWinter Harbour. Head down into Brooks Bay.
I never calculate how much my fish cost per pound! Or rather, I did once and I quit doing that.$22.63 a lb. at Thriftys

Restrictions affect salmon only , Hali spots are wide open, and very consistent, bigger fish early season usually then ping pong paddle and chickens afterWith all the stupid, ineffective SKRW area closures around Port Renfrew are there many productive halibut spots left to fish?
