After that breky Roy I'd be suprised if Bob didn't crawl up front for a nap! looks like Huevos Rancheros in the pan & deer sausage maybe? With food like that no wonder you are booked all the time!

Roy you happen to have that recipe for the batter on the halibut? I have never made home made fish and chips before and was also curious what kind of oil you use and at what temp?

Thanks

I've been hit by that paw before and it really isn't as bad as you would think.... just don't let him grab you and the big fella will never catch up! Thanks again for the trip Roy!

Looks awesome Roy..

Glad to see you guys enjoying some fresh fish.. keep at it and have fun..

There is a reason we used to call Uncle Roy "Banana Fingers" at work. Looks Tasty, sure do miss those BBQs at lunch...

May duck out with my new yellow Lab deckhand for a few hours tomorrow! Pends wich way she blows. Geezus, goosebumps just thinking about getting on the pick again.

No specific spots in mind but would you head east or west out of Sooke in search of Halibut? Fuel is no issue. Timing would be mid to late March?

I'm far from an expert, there's more qualified folks than me on here to comment specifically. But on Tues opening day I heard reports of halibut caught in different spots from Jordan River to Victoria. My conclusion is they could be anywhere or everywhere on a given day!

I understand the spots off Victoria can get busy, and the spots near to Sooke certainly were at season's end last year. So the further west you go, the more chance of having some room to yourself.

Leaving Sooke to the east, Race Rocks is a common choice, but potentially very dangerous anchoring for novices (and that includes me).

I guess I'd lean towards the west. Others?

Hey big daddy , difficult question. Big hali in both directions , A lot depends on the wind direction and current on any given day.
